This race has been political from the appointment of Mr. Regan to the firing of Mrs. Rupp. Bad blood exists between the two candidates and it has been a race from day one with the finish line just around the corner.
Mr. Regan brags how successful the clerk's office has been since he was appointed County Clerk. Most of his accolades have been the accomplishments well managed office with proven policies and performance established by Mrs. Ritchie and Mrs. Rupp. He brags about increase revenue but the revenues are lethargic compared to prior years. The Veteran's identification card was a prior project and been established in many other counties.
Mr. Regan and Mrs. Streeter state they fired Mrs. Rupp because of the County's fiscal state; that would of been more believable if he stated that prior to the firing and she was not running against him.

If you are a person of your word you will just lose your right to vote. Rupp was a political appointee so you wont vote for her. Regan was a political appointee so you wont vote for him..
Ritchie interfered and we got her friend and contributor to her campaign for County clerk when she left.. Proved inadequet and Regan fired and saved us taxpayers money...
He fired her the first day he was there. He had no time to judge whether she was adequate or not. She had already announced she was running for Clerk, making herself an opponent of his, so he simply eliminated her job. Dirty politics, no matter which party you belong to. Mrs. Streeter's lies are just as bad.
Regan is a hack plain and simple , tried for public office and twice was NOT supported BY VOTERS , then Cuomo appoints him - -Uh no thanks Gov take this wannabe clerk and , well u know how the song goes :>)
Ritchie has a pattern for hiring friends and family . It has continued in her new job..She could have protected these two people with a little work. Other elected officals over there have protected their appointed deputy workers by making the positions civil service.
I am not going to get into this becasue the Republican Party will influence Rupp to fire Cathy if she wins the election.
Cathy Steeter is one of the most liked county employees over there. Shes not a liar but she did get set up for a disapointment only a liar and a sneak would call a person a liar under an anonomous blog. Republican Janet Kelly has been lying about facts from that office and got called out today in a letter from a DMV employee.. Yes Janet even Mr Regan answers to the county administrator..
I hope Ms Rupp is honest enough to not be a liar during this campaign but every one should ask her will you keep Kathy Streeter as first deputy if you win....
Rupp was a personal friend of the Ritchies and that is why she got the deputy position in the first place but her contributions to Rithcies election got her the first deputy position...

Mary Rupp was a DMV clerk for about two years when Pat Ritchie offered her a job as a deputy or political appointee.. She accepted.. She accepted the job even though she knew there were several employees with much more knowledge and experience than her available... This was Pat Ritchies right to make this appointment. With it come the knowledge that eventually she might be replaced..
She was again named by Ritchie in 2010 to run the office until and election or until a new governor made an appointment.. The later happened..
Mary Rupp was replaced by her own hand.. Regan made his choice.. Rupp ;didnt ask for the deputy job to be replaced rather she (in her own words) tried to save money and work without it... Regan came in and seen that it worked and had a choice to make.. Which deputy was more efficient .. He chose the obviously clear choice...
Lets just make this job election a popularity contest.. No dirt no BS and running people down..

Mr Regan's plan upon taking the political appointment then firing his opposition in the next election seems a bit opportunistic with obvious political ramifications to those of us NOT mired in either Elephant or Donkey trenches.
Frankly i 'd prefer totally NEW people run for THAT office . Donkeys and Elephants are both out of touch with many voters today.

If in fact she did have a 2yr prior experienced BEFORE the political appointment as DEP then she had experience -- Something Cuomo's appointee did not have nor didi he have voter support .

It appears from the author of this blog that Mrs. Streeter had a chance to learn the DMV and perfered to stay in the clerks office.
Mrs. Rupp was hired by civil service law and was appointed to Deputy Clerk by P. Ritchie. She was picked because:
She understood the DMV!
She open and run multiple small businesses!
She had prior customer service skills!
She had supervisor skills!
She had bookkeeping skills!
Mrs. Rupp and her husband owned an operated 5 Jrecks stores and managed Simply Sandwiches in Ogd. Maybe just, maybe she had a skill set to go along with that promotion.

Your right on she knew the DMV but the reason was wrong. Whe was picked because she was a friend of Patty and she and her husband influenced Ritchie. Kathy Streeter knows so much more about the running of that office and the law then Mary ever could know.. Its irrelvant because once Gavin took over it now runs his way with wich Rupp is not familiar... Or is it just that you run it a certain way and anyone can run it...
I havnt made up my mind yet who to vote for but one thing for sure if theres any chance Kathy Streeter gets replaced as first deputy I,m voting for the other guy.. She is and has been the brains in that office for a few years now . Shes just not a prominent as the others that were and want to be there.
Problem Kathy was put in the DMV to learn it and wanted to come back. Her stint in the paper about her not knowing she was getting pasted over is so far from the truth. She knew the DMV was a big part of the income and wanted no part of it.
Mrs. Rupp stated she would keep her on as her deputy, so she is safe. I do agree Kathy understands the clerk office but the first deputy must know it all.
Gavin is running that office the best he can. His way, what way would that be. He took over an office that was running exceptionally well, hard to mess it up. My vote will be for Rupp.

Pat Rabiduea was the first deputy in the Clerks office for Patty and she worked in the Clerks office and not the DMV. She worked in the main office for years It only made sense to appoint Kathy who also woekred in the main Clerks office to the first deputy position but no, friendship and money spoke and Rupp got the appointment.
The DMV is a day by day thing anyway that could disapear overnight so put in on the no.one ranking if you may but its still are part of one department.

She then moved up in the clerk's office because she showed could manage people and grasped the business side of a multimillion dollar business. She won her promotion to First Deputy because she showed she could oversee both the clerk's office and the DMV office. Kathy Streeter refused to learn the complexities of the DMV office because she just wasn't comfortable dealing with the complexities. Since Gavin got the job handed to him based on his political connections, no one in the office grasps that the DMV work will not continue if the staff follows Gavin's lackadaisical approach of taking a few days to get the job done.
While you keep claiming Patty Ritchie hired staff based on money and connections, the fact is Patty promotes based on who can do the job the best. That's why Patty is successful. She surrounds herself with bright, talented and competent people. Gavin loves mediocrity and has promised his party bosses he'll fill future jobs with political hacks just like he got his own job.
