Jornal:Council Members: Mayor Going To Far

                         WHO IS PLAYING POLITICS?
Mr. Sholette, and Mr. Skamperle have been fighting with Mayor Nelson and the City Manager for the last 4 years.  It appears they are changing their positions on Mr. Scoirra.  They believe Mayor Nelson and Deputy Mayor Morley are doing it for political reasons.

It appears Mr. Sholette and Mr.Skamperle will now vote to support Mr. Scoirra; sounds like someone is calling the kettle black.  The problems with these kind of games, the City is the loser in the end

The City has LOST ground under this entire slate of politicians for the last 5 yrs so this latest 3 ring circus is absolutely no surprise . The lack of leadership , vision , cooperation and ACHIEVEMENT is evident.

AND these miscreants still play political games _SHAMEFUL, I seriously doubt any of them could find their posteriors with a map and a GPS

The city is NOT better than it was

None of the chronic problems haVE BEEN SOLVED : shrinking tax bases, increasing fees and street crime and the reputation as the dumping ground for Level 3 sex offenders .

The stae of politics and leadership here is in a nutshell; Woeful

I read todays paper and some of the counsilors have made their position known about the sale of the house.
I guess I understand not want to sell it, but if the purchase price is fifty one thousand what difference if its a bank loan or a grant. As long as the city gets its money..
I am not sure I want to make the Burkes out to be villans but thats what Counsilor Vaugh is trying to do.. They have been in that home for three years. They have gotten a sweet deal, but the party is going to end. It is not fair to the other people in the city that work hard and pay their taxes.
Somehow that seems a little personal to me..
Remember this Mr. Vaugh and the rest of the council are responsible for the actions of the city employees.
The council has known about Mr Woods actions for some time and for political reasons chose to gag it.. That includes Mr. Vaugh.
Now that election time is coming near Vaugh has a lot to say about all of the issues created by Mr Woods actions when in fact he should have been doing his job for us in keepoing issues like this open and transparent. In my opinion Mr Vaugh is a guilty party to this action not the Burkes. His actions for the past four years reflect this persons willingness to promote himself politically with any party or affiliation in any manner possible at any cost.
As close as his liplock on Mr Sciorra has been their is no way this wannabe didnt know all the details of this affair...

Vaugh is vacuuous , an empty suit, , a pretender, a poser the worst kind of no talent political wannabee. All talk with no action or accomplishments to speak of.

Ogdensburg is MUCH worse now than before he and the current gang of councilors took office.

Fortunately thinking people were on to him early on.

He even wanted to join "the Coalition" slate of candidates back in the last mayoral election except folks who attended that caucus saw right thru him .

Too bad others couldn't see this callowness.

He FOOLED all you who voted for him . The sooner this poser is put "in the rear view mirror " the better.

Poser is right.. Remember when he announced he would run for the assembly and opened his campaign on Twitter.. He then wrote the Republican party asking for any financial help they could give him.. After review of the request Nancy Martin noticed Vaugh had copied a letter a congressional canidate had written to the party financial committee. This pretender wants to keep the manager around...

This whole 819 knox Street was done illegal by Art Scorria and Justin Woods! You can't take St Lawrence County Housing money without following SLCH RULES. By hireing O'Neil CW Augustine, Jen
Ashley. The two groups Scorria & Woods with O Niels group violated several rules - there for illegal. City if independently investigated will pay it back. Good going Scorria & Woods - you neeed that pact!

The one thing that bothers me is the fact that only one canidate for council has taken time to give us a little input on this Blog using their name. I,ve been told that the Republican party chief Fred Bean forbid the use of this site to any canidates for the council and Nelson..
How about it guys and Ladies are we going to see some views on this debacle from you or are you going to hide and use your parties investment in you to win.
You all go to the paper with your letters and get public in other manners why not on a blog. Are you afraid to be held accountable or is it true Fred must prepare all of your statements and tell you what your positions are on issues. This is what we have now.. This is why Knox st is an issue.. Secretcy

I don't think fred has much to do about anyhing both parties are playing politics right now. I prefer people that take a stand. Like the paper said today 3 people want ---but did the paper talk to the others -- i think not --- it gives you the impression it did . You got to sort all this crap out i do . and its hard but everyone makes a mistake -good luck and believe what you want .Even some lie !

I would hope Fred Bean is smarter than that .This would be the exact opposite of the transparency needed to clean up city hall.

If perchance there is any grain of truth to your RUMOR or ANY party chicanery that is uncovered will be exposed.

The blog can serve to OPEN up government and HOLD representative accountable .

This new social media phenomena( blogs, FB , twitter etc) is happening ALL over the world now and has brought politicians in several countries to their knees.

The Genie is out of the Bottle now and isn't going back in .

Accountability & transparency is in order, anyone with a cell phone and a computer is a journalist TODAY .

People are sick to death of old school politics and are exposing it

M. Dolengy said...

I dont know about old school politics but the canidates have been asked to speak on this blog
So far only Mr. MaCoy has spoken and taken a position and Mr. Amo has had the courage to take positons.
Jennifer Stevenson seems to be part of what has happened so I doubt she will take a stand
Wayne Ashley has not spoken it appears he worried about Sciorra control on his pension and medical

Wm, Hosmer not spoke out seems like hes on board with Art.. Art probably will not compete against his marina in return.
Mike Morley is trying to campaign for Ashley andHosmer but let them speak themselves or dont vote for them..
Is their anyonther canidats that we forgot..
Oh yes Jack McGrath...and Bill Nelson.

I was traveling down in the southern tier region of the state on business, specifically Elmira NY, and wouldn't you know it, Ogdensburg is on the news down there too. When asked by someone where I was from I told the that I was from Ogdensburg. The expression on their face said a lot, and then she said to me, wow what a mess you guys have up there in your city, sounds like your leaders can't do anything correct. I was thoroughly embarrassed. This disaster down at city hall has farther reaching effects than most people will care to admit. I would like to see a third party do the investigation into all aspects pertaining to this mess, as no matter what anyone says down at city hall in my opinion its as Mr Rose stated to me, "the fox guarding the hen house". The only way that the citizens of Ogdensburg are ever going to know the whole truth without any omissions and no censorship is if we have an independent third party investigate this matter. For the members of City Council, The Mayor, the City Attorney, and the City Manager to be involved in this investigation at any level will taint the results. Just my two cents on this issue.

Once normalcy is restored to the city of Ogdensburg, we will finally be able to focus on the issues at hand that have been put on the backburner in the past few months. One of the bigger things that come to mind is the amount of property that is not on the tax roll. I believe that we need to re-assess the restrictions regarding businesses wanting to locate to the city. We have gone from a thriving industrial community to a dying ghost town. The taxpayers are fed up with having to absorb all the untaxed property that the city continues to accumulate. As each year goes by, it seems like the taxes are going up constantly and there is no reciprocation. I would like to work on a plan, if elected, to bring new business here and work alongside them to make sure they will thrive in our community. Potential business owners should not be frightened to take the first step in making their idea possible.
People are so afraid to improve the outside or their home because they feel that the “assessment police” are outside their home waiting to reassess them immediately to an astronomical amount. We the taxpayers should not have to feel that we’re being held hostage by the city and it is a shame that nobody can update their property without having to pay a downright atrocious amount of money to do so. We realize that our properties have to be re-assessed after work has been done to it, however, sometimes the amount greatly exceeds what we think is a reasonable one. Remember, a lot of people that I have spoken to are on fixed incomes. We should devise a better system of reassessing properties and give homeowners some incentive to do so.
It is no secret that the amount of crime in Ogdensburg has spiraled out of control. I have complete faith in our police department. We have hired some new officers and Officer Pryce has started a neighborhood watch program that seems to be thriving and she is diligently trying to get the community to band together and be proactive. The community should embrace this idea and expand the neighborhood watch to cover the entire city and if you see something, call the police department. Remember, we only have so many officers on a shift and it is difficult to be at several different locations simultaneously. This is where the public could take a more active role in helping to prevent crimes from occurring.
In regards to the reason why the City Manager has not given an explanation to citizens who were granted money by the city and never received it, an independent state audit should be underway. If there is nothing to hide, why not start this immediately? We would like to know where the money is. I would also like to see a complete list of city-owned properties and know if there are any other families living rent and tax free in the city. With that being said, there is only one way that honesty, trust, and integrity can be restored to city hall and the taxpayers. (Mr. Sciorra, if you truly have the taxpayers’ best interest at heart, the best thing you can do is to resign and not make the city council fire you.) The council meeting on October 11th saw a record-setting attendance. A large majority of the taxpayers in attendance spoke in volumes that you need to go.
We need change on the council to bring a breath of fresh air. I intend to be 100% transparent, openly honest, have the taxpayers best interest at heart, total open communication, and if elected I intend to serve with integrity and sincerity. Vote for James R. Amo on November 8th for Ogdensburg City Council.
