Journal:City Delays Attorney Report Discussion

It is a Waiting Game
How much longer do we wait? Each councilor should review the document prepared by Mr. Silver. When the review is complete each councilor should be able to deduce if the City Manager was negligent in his duties. An emergency meeting should be called and the public needs to know the truth.  This needs to be put to rest!

I don't put a lot of trust in too many people. Over the course of 12 yearson Council, only two people have struck me as completely trustworthy, Steve LaRose and Doug Sholette. If either of these two told me something, I knew they would back it up when needed.

Whoever is writing headlines for The Journal screwed this story up, because Mr. Robbins's story says nothing about a 'delay'. The city council is working through this as dutifully and responsibly as they can.

Bill Nelson & Mike Morley are reportedly trying to cover this report up.

As far as I'm concerned, there are two people in our current city government who aren't afraid to tell it like it is - Morley and Cilley.

Mike, would your buddy Bill Nelson be calling for Art's resignation if that journal reporter hadn't pushed his disastrous management methods out into the public eye?

My guess is that you might have been a critic of Art all along, but Bill and most of the council would still assume that everything was hunky-dory with Art. That shows a lack of intellectual curiosity and an apathy that a city's leaders should not have. I wouldn't mind if we got rid of EVERYONE on the council except for Morley and Cilley.

You are a man who is full of crap. It's easy to throw stones for you because you are a coward who refuses to identify yourself. I am not, and neither is the mayor, in any way trying to cover up this report. I wanted it out in the public view last night, but listened to legal counsel and abided by his advice. If you, or anyone can prove otherwise, please put the facts on the table. Until you can, just continue to hide behind a pseudonym and show us how brave you really are.

Anonymous 11:48,
Thank you. I try to represent people like I think they would want me to. I have been a critic of Sciorra for the last three years. I supported him his first few so that he could get his feet on the ground and establish himself. After the free pass years, I started questioning his methods and openly criticizing some practices. Now I ask myself why I didn't see the problems earlier. But since I did begin to notice, I have tried to act. I am not done yet. I plan to see this through to the only obvious conclusion.
I also agree with your assessment of Storm Cilley. I am very happy to be working with the man.

I seen some reference to nelsons family getting in on the goldrush over the last couple of years did some investigation and found..
His son in law and daughter now reside in a house that was sold to them very inexpensively renovated by Grants and paid partially for by grants..
This is legal and above board but I question this.... All families share information.. Its hard for me to believe the mayor didnt have any questions about that sale and the cost of things back then... That assuming he didnt already know what Sciorras and Woods policies were then... These are the things that make me believe Nelson was fully aware of whet was going on in this city and just turned his head. I thinnk this Crap would still be going on but he needed Arts head to have any chance of repeating as mayor..
I almost forgot the rucus over his son being hired by the city manager.. Cries of nepotisim fell on deaf ears as technically it wasnt .
Clearly a good relationship existed with the mayor and Sciorra until Nelson found out he was losing... How quickly his closest Ally Vaugh became public enemy no one when Nelson needed his scapegoat....
You and others have tried to tie McGrath with Skampelele but today McGrath gave a public statement about his feeling about Sciorra. Completely the opposite of whats been rumored isnt it.

The only time I tie McGrath to Skamperle is when I met Jack. He and Skamp were going door to door together, and knocked on my front door.
If Bill's daughter and her husband got a house through the tax sale, it is perfectly legal. What do you want me to do about it? The tax sales are advertised.Anyone can go pay taxes on property and pick up a very good buy. Even you can if you read the paper and check out the list.

It was stated it was legal. No one asked you to do anything.Just the family talking thing might have raised flags for Nelson..Seeing the grants project was used...

A question thats haunting me is you felt Sciorra lied to you.. I didnt know what over until recently. You asked him at some point if Nelson was influenceing the firing of Woods. His answer was NO...
Now he says Nelson attempted to influence the firing during the petition period of the democratic and independant party
Nelson claims he didnt or in politican talk I remember the phone conversaiton differently.
If Nelson lied and did try and influence the firing then Sciorra lied to you.. I understand that..
If Nelson didnt lie and dint try to influence the firing then Sciorra didnt lie to you.. Pretty simple..
But you claim he lied and admitted it and he did openly admit it so that to me means only one thing..NELSON LIED ALSO..
How can this be seen in any different light..
I,m sure that Arts lied to yu before and if you dont fire him he will again but I disagree with letting Nelson off the hook . It appears he lied to all of us...
I am sorry that you read a threat from my blog the other day there was none met. You have always held your office with credibility I was simply implying not to trust Nelson too far..
He is using your open and welcome honesty for his gain....

This mornings paper should have cleared up any question as to where McGrath and the incoming councilors stand. I hope this is representative of what we can expect form them in thier new office. One cohesive voice for change. Well done. Vote for McGrath, McCoy, Ashley and Stevenson, all straight shooters and appear to be able to cross party lines for the betterment of Ogdensburg.

Mike said...

To M.Dolengy,
That wasn't the lie I was referring to. And his explanation in the paper was another lie. I have caught him in several lies. The one he semi-admitted to was to keep Nick on his side, another lie in itself. I asked him about Bill on7/6/11. Bill talked to him after justin handed in his resignation letter on7/13/11. So when I asked him, according to Art's explanation in the paper, he hadn't even had a reason to talk to Bill yet.
I'm not trying to cover for anyone, but Art's answers don't add up.

I've heard what I was waiting for out of the city Dems. I am traditionally a GOP voter and have been for 3 decades, but I am fed up with the way local Republicans run things. I might vote for Mary Lou Rupp, but otherwise I think I'll be pulling the lever for the democrats - at least I don't doubt that they want to change things from the disaster that has happened here over the past 10 years.

I have no doubt that I,m not going to waste any votes on any of the canidates that repuresent the status quo..
I will be voting for
McGrath for mayor
McCoy for council
Amo for council
Hosmer for council
Gavin Regan for County CLerk.. That is just a case of if it aint broke dont fix it however...
This city needs to change the status quo and this group represent just that
Have a happy and safe halloween folks and remember ITS ALL ABOUT THE KIDS

Anonymous said...

My votes will vary some from yours but change is needed locally.
The one thing that really amuses me is the fact that everyone knows all about the County CLerks office. Every letter tells in detail what Rupp or Regan can do better than the other.. With so many experts figuring percentages and losses we are in good hands whomever we vote for.. The things that bother me is the distortions and outrught lies.. Regan on this one...

In a desperate attempt to garner votes Mayor Nelson calls for Art Scorria's resignation. Well Mr. Nelson I call for your resignation as well. You have been his biggest supporter but now that you are struggling in this election you want to gut him. You could not wait for the meeting tomorrow night...less press that way...I want Scorria gone as much as the next guy but this is so ridiculously obvious about the votes...shame on you.

The city attorney's report clears Sciorra.

Anonymous said...

I have heard the same thing, that's what makes Nelson's resolution so pathetic.

Anonymous said...

The voters will take care of that on November 8.

Nelson and Morley's refusal to change course shows that this is totally politically motivated. They are nailing Art Sciorra to a cross just to get Bill Nelson reelected. Disgusting AND unethical, if you ask me.

M. Dolengy said...

I,m not sure that Morley is not just being radical and using this as his chance.. Hes been itching for a couple of years to fire this guy but Nelson Vaugh and Poweers have protected him..
I personally think Nelson is using the moment to get re-elected and I feel hes using Morley to lead the charge..
Yes the attorneys report has cleared Sciorra of any malicious wrongdoing but he still has eithical problems which haunt him.. Lying and decieving are not a good quality in leaders and that goes for Bill Nelson..
I am going to end with this.. Sciorra will have trouble leading any more and should be terminated but Nelson should be sent packing also... What we need is a breath of fresh air .. We can vote a new mayor in and half of a new council. Mr. Morley has been agood represenative of the people but in this case hes being mislead by a carreer politican.. Getting rid of Sciorra and Nelson are in the best interests of the people..

The whole situation is deeply humiliating. If Art, the self-proclaimed CEO, didn't take his marching orders from Bill, he could have fired Woods quietly and professionally. Instead, he called attention to himself and the situation and made a mountain out of a molehill.

Sure, he didn't break any laws. But now that the heat is on him, the same issue that required Woods's prompt and public termination is simply "no big deal." Of course, the emails that Woods provided the paper made it clear that Sciorra knew what was going on with Knox Street and the Main Street monies. And this idea of "moving grant money around" is nonsense. It's just not how grants work. So Woods's alleged misdeed makes now sense.

But for the simple fact of blowing this up, causing the City great embarrassment, and publicly blaming not just Woods but Phil Cosmo and the former attorney (not even admitting of the possibility that he himself should take an ounce of responsibility), Art should have been gone weeks ago.

And sure, vote Bill out in a landslide. But the last few comments portraying Art as a martyr are sick. Hopefully it's just Vaugh posting and reposting.

Anyone who thinks Art is innocent in this is living in another world. Whatever the Atty.'s report says, there was already enough evidence to fire Art for incompetence and/or failure to do the duties of the City Manager as outlined in the Charter.

Art has improved the budget and cut taxes every year. Bill Nelson has been trying to take credit for all the good things that have happened under Art's leadership, but dump off all the bad things onto Art. Revitalizing the waterfront? Bill Nelson will take credit for that. Screwing up the housing program? Art's fault. Lowering taxes? Bill Nelson will take credit for that. Potholes and crumbling sidewalks? Art's fault. Lower police budget? Bill Nelson will take credit for that. More violent crime? Art's fault. Bill can't take responsibility for all of the good things in the city without also taking blame for the failures he's shared in.

Anonymous said...

That is not true about Art cutting the budget every year. Taxes went up 80 cents a thousand last year. The water rates and the sewer rates go up almost every year. Check if you don't believe me.

Anonymous said...

Exactly, 3:32. Not to mention that low tax rates are great, but even better when services are actually good.

And yes, 3:18. Bill should go. But so should Mr. Cheese Plant. Maybe that nickname is outdated. Mr. American Communities, Inc? Mr. Defense "Contractor"?

Or let's just get rid of him because any chimpanzee can lower tax rates while flinging ---- at his loyal employees (Mr. Cosmo, for one). Just as long as you don't mind that the roads are falling apart, you'll be overjoyed that Uncle Art lowered your tax bill a few bucks!
