I have to say, I expected Mary Lou to win the County Clerk's position but the voters beat down Mr. Regan and made a statement about his conduct and ability to run the office. Under Mary Lou's watch the office was run well and the revenues generated from the DMV were better. Some things come full circle and Mr. Regan will know what it is like to be out of a job soon. Hopefully he will still do his job until the end of the year.
Mary Lou, said she would keep Mrs. Streeter as her Deputy which to me would be a tough decision. Above all your deputy has to be loyal, willing to learn all departments, and this does not appear to be the case with Mrs. Streeter. Maybe she will change her registration again?

No surprise at all .
It WAS a clear and flat out rejection by voters of Cuomo's interfering in local government.
The voters spoke... Regan will do just fine on his own again and Kathy Streeter will be just fine. Kathys registration is of no concern to anyone but herself. She is a strong serious employee that can learn anything she has to.. She was overlooked for the promotion as it happens in politices..
Rupp will do just fine obviously but only because she has strong dedicated workers such as Kathy to depend on.... Remember that office basicly runitself when Pat run for Senate ..
The election showed that the same geniuses who advised Gavin that it would be a brilliant move to fire Mary Lou Rupp badly miscalculated the common sense of St. Lawrence County's voters. Mr. Regan will go down in history with the dubious distinction of having the worst showing for a county-wide candidate who ran an actual campaign. On the surface, Gavin's campaign offered an articulate candidate, a compelling narrative, an intensive county wide effort, an extensive TV ad campaign and the backing of a very popular governor. Unfortunately, his handlers failed to recognize that their effort to also run the campaign against Sen. Patty Ritchie would simply galvanize Mrs. Ritchie's campaign organization on Mrs. Streeter's behalf. Between Mrs. Rupp's experience and personal reputation as an outstanding county employee, Mrs. Ritchie campaigned with her extensively, robocalled on her behalf and made sure voters were aware that Mrs. Rupp was best qualified to carry on her legacy. The tallies in each precinct Tuesday night will be a strong indicator of how Mrs. Ritchie will fare a year from now when she faces who ever the geniuses offer as their next sacrificial lamb to the senator's campaign organization.
Mr Rupp... Stick to selling sandwiches your theory stinks.. Pat Ritchie won the election for her.. Ritchie got her the job.. Ritchie gave her the job.. Ritchie appointed her then Ritchie ran for her... Congradulations Patty..
Nelson will be challanging you next year for the GOP nod.

Anon 9:39 Of course Ritchie Supported her. She knows the process and understands the office and the ability of Mrs. Rupp, and yes a friend also.
You assume the voters are ignorant if you think the only reason she won was because of Ritchie. With that much of a margin, I find it hard to believe Mrs. Rupp ability did not come into the equation.
Congratulations to a well run campaign and one of the biggest wins in the county.
Poly.. Her credentials were no stronger than Regans.. Inf act he had more.. I voted for Rupp for the same reason most did the rah rah and the Party thing but in thinking back I may be sorry.. Like I stated above Regans credentials were superior to Rupp and he had a nice personality.. Whe won from Ritchies support and while she didnt her partys whinning constantly...
while yu didnt, the author of the bolog critized Streeter. Why> Whes hard working and very smart and to think she didnt get bypassed because of Pattys frinedship to the Rupps is totally absurb.
