Mike Morley

Did that letter supporting the sales tax hike go out yet??
You stated some time ago you would check or was that just some more hot air to make Nelson look good.

Mike Morley said...

To Timmy Turkey;
The last time I checked it had not. I will ask again Monday night. I think we still have time to do something. I will tell you that, because of NYS law, The City and the County will have to have negotiations on how to split up the extra revenue.

Mike as long as it gets done.. I understand we are one of four counties in the State that still get seven percent.. Time for the County to step up.

To Timmie Turkey
Patti Ritchie has to step up,too. We depend on her to do the job in Albany. She is well aware that the County wants to do this, and she has to signal when is the proper time to move it. Last year she said we were too late. That can't happen again on our end or hers.
The City should support the increase in the sales tax. It will provide needed revenue without raising property taxes. Being one of only five counties to still have sales tax at 7%, the Governor has to understand how important it is for the County to raise it, and
get in line with the rest of the State. If it was passed, The County would not have to worry about the 2% tax cap because the revenues would increase enough to not need a property tax increase. And isn't that right in line with the Governor's new policy?

Ritchie is in line.. Only problem is shes in line with some rich Republicans from Long Island and Alex Bay... No sales tax hike..No millionaires tax... Of course she is passing important legislation like chili cookoffs etc..
She party run Mike and does whatever Gramahn Wise wants period.. She only talks through Jim Regan whos background is questionalbe at a minimum..Her offices are full of employees hired from her list of friends relatives and Wises relatives and friends.. She has no mind of her own but thats why I feel the letter was being held up so Nelson wouldnt piss her off just before election... Of course you guys dont play politics do you...

I have come to the conclusion that Norther New York deserves what they get.. Nothing.. Look around you.. Locally we have a joke for a mayor and council.. Legislators are dysfuncitonal to say the least... Ritchie Pathetic. Blankenbush Pathetic... Addie only average to say the lest..
Whos running for Congress.. Oh the playboy rich guy from ABAy.. What a joke...
We have learned nothing locally.. The perbs and prisoners reign supreme for now.. No industry wants to locate locally only the ones trying to cash into our giveaway realestate and loans grants.
They bring those prisons here years ago by lying to the public and a joint campagn by the newspapter to ridicule any opposition.. the Perv Palace is Nelsons baby.. Then in return his wife at the time gets a job there.. Run away the first day I,m told...
City manager was to be fired or so Bill Nelson stated.. he was going to make a motion and carry through... What happened Bill.. Oh I forgot you only lie during campaign time....
Mike Morley the peoples savior.. Since the election he has babbled like a fool at the council meetings . Oh I forgot Mike dont play politics.....

Just a little over two months ago Nelson was Sciorra best allie. Then he found out he was losing the election.. He grandstanded and was going to make a resolution to get rid of the culprid..Didnt do it.. The city hall was packed with oeople wanting Sciorra ass.. Now we are back to no one in attendance.. We had Steve Rose telling it like it was but he was so obsessed with firing the manager he beleived Nelson would do it...Didnt Steve... You even convinced people that he was the only one that would fire the manager... Somehow more than anyone in this city Steve Roses desire to see Sciorra fired got Nelson elected and we all lose. Your pathetic Steve.. You convinced six people or more that would have voted for change to vote for Nelson for that reason.... Steve Rose saved Sciorra folks and I thijnk he knew what he was doing...,.

A sales tax increase would just let the county go on a $13 million spending spree and provide big pay hikes at a time when private sector employees and state employees are taking pay freezes and furloughs.
There is no free lunch folks. A working single mom with one child would pay $140 in extra sales taxes with a one percent sales tax increase. Middle class families would pay lots more, check it out on the IRS website.
These people clamoring for a sales tax are Democratic political shills who are not listening to normal people do not want any new taxes.

Time to cut, not tax! Same old same old we are the nanny state and always will be. Never cut a program, we need them all. Make some hard decisions.

they will never make the tough choices. Sales tax is an easy solution, look at Sam Burns,.2 years ago Burns will never support a sales tax increase and now he is the leader of the pack for one. More revenue will make tough choices go away wont they Sammmy>

So run someone who can beat Burns and the tax & spend crowd in Canton. Those people never met a tax they didn't like . Cut the fat in the payroll-- quit stalling

There's nothing to cut. Have to tax, we already have enough rotting city/county infrastructure because some conservative limp-wristed wusses are pissing their pants over spending a little money for the things our society's built on.

We form governments to do the things that people can't do without central organization. We need to pay enough to empower them to carry out that responsibility. If some people can't deal with that, there's a lot of open space in northern Canada and Siberia on which they can experiment with Republican anarchy.

Wait a minute. You mean middle class working families would have a pay several hundred dollars in additional sales taxes on top of the outrageous property taxes we're already paying? I thought you said it would just be Canadians, college students and renters who would be paying this sales tax increase. You didn't say that we working stiffs who are barely able to keep our homes would have to pay even more on top of what you already have us paying?

A few months ago, Sam, Sally, Freddy and Jonathan were telling us they would have raise property taxes by 30percent if they didn't get a sales tax increase. They told us they'd have to abolish the sheriff's road patrol, the mental health staff, the planning office and quite a few other parts of county government. Thankfully, their bluff was called and it turned out everything they had said was a pack of lies. They and their friends want more of our money to spend on their own pet schemes, but it turns out they can actually operate county government without a 30 percent property tax hike or a one percent sales tax increase.

Thank God Senator Ritchie stood up to them. It must be making them crazy that we have someone in Albany who listens to the people who elected her and stands by her promises not to raise taxes. It must have made them crazy when she told them they'd have to learn to live within their means, just like families have to do.

That's probably why their looking to con some poor fool to run against Senator Ritchie this fall. Probably the same con artists who fooled poor Gavin into blowing his family's savings and his mom's retirement money are now assuring some else that it will be a walk in the park to run for the senate this fall. Let's hope the poor fool doesn't look at how Gavin lost by five to one margins in many of the precincts where the geniuses were assuring him he'd be able to hold his own. The clerk's results give a very strong indication of how Senator Ritchie is going to do next fall. The geniuses will disagree, but you ask Gavin how their promises and predictions measured up against Patty's machine.

Cut the county payroll , eliminate subsidies to off budget agencies . re-allocate $$ to infrastructure and to Hell with the sales tax >

Live within your means legislators, quit your crying and start to adapt !

Anonymous said...

I can't afford another four cents a gallon on my gasoline! Are you telling me there are fools who actually think an increase in sales tax wouldn't come out of their pockets? They may be conning the high school drop outs into thinking that college students, Canadians and renters will be picking up the tab,but a working couple earning $45,000 a year would be paying an extra $240 a year in sales tax, on top of what they are already paying in property taxes. Normal people can't be dumb enough to buy into the notion that they would not be paying more.

I would rather have more taxes on consumption - like a sales tax - than more tax on work - like payroll and income taxes. A sales tax is just.

Anonymous said...

A sales tax is regressive. Here's the prescription for the legislators:

CUT the budget.

Forget ANY new taxes.

Live within your means St Lawrence County .

Right size the operation.

Eliminate ineffective or redundant programs and services .

Cut the "deadwood" and union feather-bedding and non value- added jobs.

Move on and adapt .

Any more cuts in this county and the rest of our young people will leave because of lack of opportunity. If we want good jobs, we need good business. If we want good business, we need better infrastructure. If we want better infrastructure, we have to be willing to pay for it one way or another.

Or you could just pave, plow, salt and seal your own roads. Clean your own water. Educate your own kids. Take your own mail down to Syracuse. Protect your own property and patrol your own streets. Put out your own fires. Process your own sewage and clean up your own toxic waste.

I'm all for anarchy as I am someone who is capable of taking care of myself and protecting those I love - but I don't think that cutting everything in the name of 'right sizing' is the answer. We clearly need higher taxes.

1:11 which socialist nation are you moving to ?
County raising taxes has NOTHING to do with why our kids are leaving ?

As for the rest of your comments-laffable but delusional .

Governor Cuomo has repeatedly pointed out that a state with the highest taxes in the nation and the worst business climate has no future. Our taxes are what's costing us our businesses, our jobs, our college graduates and our future.
In case you didn't notice, the county and the city have not abolished any meaningful services and they did it without a sales tax increase. The Democrats obviouszly don't like living within their means, but it's being done despite their whining about the end of the world, anarchy, and their inability to hand out our money to their campaign donors.
It bums you out, doesn't it?
