Candidates Say |
The Candidates Say:
Looks like a good time to get a new City Manager
We Need to jump start the economy
Treat everyone fairly
Better Communication
Better Housing
Better Grant Management
No New taxes
Increase Public Safety
The means and knowledge of getting these thing done, is the question. These statements have been made at every election. No comments from the candidates for Mayor, that will be later in the week, or maybe tomorrow, hopefully soon. I would like some insight from Mr. Nelson and Mr. McGrath. Mr. Nelson has much experience and insight into our current issues, should be interesting.

When you consider mayor and filling out the ballot do this. Election day morning drive around town everywhere not just the river front... Look at the closed businesses and retail stores look at the slums look at the decaying houses. Drive by and go up Ford ST .. If your happpy with what you see and remember then give Bill Nelson your votes... If your not then you want change like I do vote for Jack McGrath..
All the experience Nelson brags about and look what City Hall represents today...
Yes and AFTER driving around this city and go back home and ask yourself this :
Is the city better off than it was 4 yrs ago ?
Is Your neighborhood?
Are you satisfied with the lack of opportunity here for our best and brightest youngsters after graduating ?
Are you satisfied with the dirty , run down squalor that abounds around parts of the city ?
Do you feel safe walking city streets at night ?
Are you happy with the drug related crime and lack of effective crime prevention and police deployment ?
Are you convinced that THIS is the BEST Ogdenburg can BE ??
If you are happy with the above then keep the Status Quo BUT if you aren't satisfied with this VOTE FOR CHANGE !!
I love it that this blog is biased for Bill Nelson - after a dozen years, there seem to be a lot of things he wants to take credit for but very few things he's actually done, except devolve our city institutions into immature shouting matches and allow the city manager to usurp all executive authority from the council.
Surely we can all see the need for someone with business experience in charge of our city. Get Big Bill Nelson and his crony politics out of Ogdensburg once and for all.
What happen to Jamie Amo Chuck. I see in today's Sunday paper that you are supporting J. Stevenson. I do not understand you chuck. For many years you trashed the republican party. Now you can not say enough about Nelson and his twins Hosmer and Ashley. Good Luck Ogdensburg.
Chuck may feel he owes Nelson --
doesn't some in his his family work for the prison?
But lets face it ENdorsements mean SQUAT today for most people . we can SEE the need for change -------think for yourself
Yes he probably does have family members working there, however, that means nothing to him. He has always fought for any and all jobs in Ogdensburg. you will have to blame his support on something else!
I think it is probably more pressure from the newspaper. It is so obviously one sided. Placements of the political ads this week says it all. What happened to the idea of the media being fair and balanced. Look back to,when McGrath first announced, Chuch was all over it stating what a strong candidate he would be Two more days and we can vote out the clowns and start moving the city in a positive direction.
That is why we have blogs, everyone can speak their mind.
OUR 3 VOTES ARE FOR AMO CHUCK KELLY MEANS NOTHIN TO US OR HIS ENDORSEMENTS GOOD LUCK MR. AMO
Chuck kelly is endorsing wayne ashley because he use to be chuck's mole in the police dept. and hosmer because jim reagan's srep-son and stevenson because he wants another dishonest politian.
I agree any influence Mr kelly had has little impact with most people who are computer literate and able to think for themselves .
Blogs TRUMP the newspaper , Pr Flacks ,Party Bosses and Hacks.
Bill Nelson has taken credit for every thing good thats happened in this city for the last decade. He also should take the credit for what has really impacted people in this city..
Higher taxes
Less businesses
Higher service reate
Falling to sleep while two major businesses by passed Ogdensburg
Slum appearing everywhere
Crime up, drugs sales and usage rampart.. Streets unsafe to walk after dark
City manager bungling housing grants, failed cheese plant, competeing with local business men, business men beign treated unfairly..
Voted no against funding to help promote the four lane highway.. After it passed he changed his vote.
Putting dozens of unenforceable ordinances into law in this city
Has supported one hundred percent the actions of our current city manager and only after decision was made his campaing in trouble did he change his course there.
Secret executive sessions became the way of the Nelson administration..
He lost his position on the Bridge and Port board and now the city and Bridge are jousting which is proving counterproductive.
Formed a joint economic council which only two remain when the others couldnt work with him..
Has promised to have water meters in every house by the end of his next term..This wold be done at homeowners expense..
I'll take someone who will work their butt off for four years instead of status quo. Status quo has led to where we are today. Time for change, no doubt! Get out and vote, vote McGrath! We need a businessman not a politician! Chant to the same cadence as, "we need a pitcher not a belly itcher".
I,ve been told by insiders at city hall that Sciorra dn Nelson have reached an agreement.
If Nelson wins Sciorra will admit to mishandling some issues and soem neglect of his duties. Nelson will recommend a sanction of thirty days without pay.. Cosmos and any others involved will be handled by Sciorra upon recommendaitons of the council.
I cant imagine Nelson being this naive... We want Sciorra gone and hes going back into Sciorra corner.. Come on guys lets get real.
To Anon 8:51;
That is not going to happen. Too many people want Uncle Art gone.
Arts gone no matter who the mayor is... Our will is understood.. Tomorrow we will see if the people of Ogdensburg are happy with the status quo at city hall or are they wanting change<<<
Nelson has promised many things over the years but come through on very few. Tomorrow brings us closer to a possible new future here in the Burg..
The nice thing is not have we learned but have they the politicans learned we will not put up with the BS anymore. We know Nelson is not the future of Ogdensburg.. I hope Jack McGrath is.. IF hes not he can be replaced the same as Nelson but we have to be patient and give him a chance..
Nelson followers are pleading the case of experience.. Experience pounding a gavel and calling a meeting to order, smiling into the camera clearing his throat every other word and depending on his funkies(powers, Vaugh to vote with him every time.
Lets rest on this... VOTE FOR A FUTURE IN OGDENSBURG VOTE MCGRATH
Well, when the polls open tomorrow morning I hope that everyone will please go out and vote, this is the time when everyone in Ogdensburg will be given an opportunity to have their say in how their city is run. Are you going to vote for more of the same, or are you going to vote for something new and different. Although change can be difficult and sometimes fear of change can almost always prevent it from happening. Now is your chance to make a difference in our community, now is your chance to choose the people that will best represent your values, your concerns, and your desires for the city. Tomorrow morning when the polls open, please go and vote. Vote to bring new ideas and new leadership to Ogdensburg, or vote for more of the same. But above all else, VOTE! You can not sit back and complain about the way things are going if you don't vote. Thank you.
What we do not need is the status quo.. If you want the same ole same ole status quo then go out and vote for Nelson, Ashley and Stevenson.. If you want change and good change then
VOTE MCGRATH, MCCOY, AMO,HOSMER
Chucks a coward
