The Future of Last In, First Out |
The Governor has an agenda, he continues to stick to his guns, and cutting the budget appears to be his goal. His thrust appears to modify Medicaid and Education which accounts for 2/3 of the budget. With major cuts in aide and BOCES funding, the Governor is pushing toward school consolidation. To sweeten the deal he has indicated incentive aide would be available to schools that merge. Most of the Schools in the area are graduating less than 100 students and consolidation appears to be inevitable. The Senate has passed the Tax Cap, but that could be a different story in the Assembly...but the passing of the Tax Cap in the Assembly would be the straw that breaks the school's back.

This could be an issue for the teachers that are getting high pay, do their job, but are not liked by administration. Gives them the ability to get rid of high paying jobs and pains in the ass.
I can not believe the Teachers in Ogdensburg received raises for each year of their contract. Add that to their 3 percent step raise and they are getting close to 6 percent raise. I wonder what they will do when the budget hammer comes crashing down. They will cry foul, and it is all about the children.
