News 7 &:For Assemblywoman, School Aid Fight Gets Emotional

I love it, she stated the Governor is for the millionaires tax.  Not in anything I have read! Just last week he said he would not consider any tax.  Addie quavered as she talked about the school aide for NNY.  She definitely knows how to play the crowd, all the power to her reelection.

Yup.. But her solution is more solid than Ritchies. The Senate Republicans want to reform it next year... Yup they promise to.....Yup I believe politicans.
I watched a city council meeeting the other night. Biggggggggggg controversy over Ritchies office wanting office space in City Hall. I watched on TV and read for weeks while the city council cut cut cut items that helped taxpayers and business. They did what they had to somewhat to help reduce the taxes that always go up..
Ritchie wants to pay 210 monthly for the office space which isnt nearly enough and is unfairly competing with local landlords and business. To top that insult off we the taxpayer have to pay almost 35000 to renovate her office.. WOW.. Somethings not right here.
Now steps up Mayor Nelson and Michael Powers in favor of such..
Asked if there is office space available now the manager says yes.. Ritchies represenative wants more..Why? To hold Republican parties.. Why... She wont be there over once every other week, why do we hae to pay that much.. If she wants low cost office space take what available or check the local business prices..
The people supporting it are starstruck with importance to have a state senator around so they can get their picture taken. Me I feel I apy her wages now I pay her aides wages now, I pay her travel expense now and I pay for her office space now.. Why do I have to pay for her office to be rennovated just so it can be bigger. Powers feels the people of Ogdensburg need this office here because of the honor of a state Senator here..
And I have said it bfore Councilmen.. Show some respect to her and address her sa Senator Ritchie not Patty... Nelson wants to be called ;your honor although that is a strech..

Neither has a solution -- CUT it now , trim the phat , Nysut is only interested in self = preservation not the kids . Too many non value added boondoggles in the educational system that have been added but NOT subtracted as the student population and general population of the district has declined.

Moreover the board has not been responsive to reality . The economic and demographic profile of this region is abysmal and yet they continue to expand expenditures beyond the level of the CPI

Forget the EMOTIONAL arguments dig into the reality of the economics and comparative benchmarking

CHANGE at a level neither AJR or PR have proposed is required .

Systemic and transformational Selective financial surgery is needed programatically to ensure that CORE educational needs are maintained and actually IMPROVED along with STUDENT performance as guaged by standardized test scores------------Not ancillary programs and services .

Time to forget the past and get on with future - change is needed and can no longer be delayed . The Status Quo must GO

Suck it up politicians and recognize that it Ain'T gonna be business as usual anymore .

Lead , Follow or get the Heck out of the Way

Here in Ogdensburg we choose to keep a cop in the school and cut other programs? Absolutely shows why this system fails... Teachers being cut a a cop with little education stays. Another taxpayer boodoggle is this cop based DARE program.. I have read site after site aboutthe program and it has a national average fairure of the program of about 95 percent of the children going through it do drugs in their teens.... Sounds like someone has a lot more money than we know about and someone else has the time to spend it.

Here's a List of cuts to consider :

Cops in schools,

The Special Education Fiefdom that costs 300 % more than regular education ,

the Athletic Empire where PE teachers and others get paid xtra Big Bucks when in fact PE teachers should Coach as part of the REGULAR job assignment , ,

Cut any programs that are NOT CORE to the educational process,

No more soft dirt athletic fields or Multiple needless construction projects given the falloff of 50 % of the enrollment over the past 2 decades --let's not forget the 57 MILLION DOLLAR waste of tax payers money being spent now on rebuilding Kennedy when in fact there is SURPLUS space at OFA .

Moreover ,How many Gyms does a school district need ?

How about a MAJOR cap on property tax and a reduction in Force to the Nationally Normed Benchmarked student to teacher ratio .

Eliminate any "Assistant or Assistant to " positions and

Create an expectation that ANY program cost increases must be limited by cutting commensurate amounts in sub-optimal program areas.

Time for Change .

Addie, a lot of rah rah and emotion. She should get an award for her dog and pony show.

This girl is all about herself and she loves to hear herself talk. I have seen her in action and it is almost embarrassing.
