Journal:North Country Sees Increase In Foreclosures

Not a big deal in NNY
Northern New York will see a slight increase in foreclosures but we are always buffered.  We are buffered because we do not have major employers that are affected by the economy.  We have one major manufacturer in ACCO and some minor buinesses in the industrial park.  The majority of the jobs in the North Country come from New York State, Hospitals, and School districts.  These jobs have in the past been recession proof and not affected by the economy.  Peaks in the economy usually bring growth and jobs, where as major drops in the economy usually lead to major job loss, but not in NNY.

NNY always runs around 9 - 10% unemployment and the economy has little affect on us Northerners. With the current economic crises we may lose a few teachers, some state jobs, they may even close a prison but little changes.  I did forget to mention the welfare rate is high and there have been little changes in that JOB program.

I have to agree with the author, we have little fluxuation in the economy. Usually it is poor or just existing. We do have a growth in the welfare rate. I guess that is our claim to fame. Wait we do have the Sex Offender facility.

Yes there is a growth in the welfare rate. Theres a bigger growth in people who are getting some sort of help for the first time. We have weak thoughtless leaders running this city competing with businessmen and prospective businessmen actually making this problem worse.
There has been nothing done over the last four years to attract anything , and in fact with Fort Drum still expanding its getting worse in the slums around town. Petty crime is up, home intrusions are up, and still no progress made in solving our last batch of murders. The city has turned into one giant sespool under the Nelson leadership and we just found out if hes reelected he will be chosen to be head of the NYS mayors assc.
We have a long uphill fight ahead of us and it cant be with Nelson, Powers, and Vaugh at the helm.
Take a drive around town folks. Think about how you would like your town to be and how it should be and for all that can remember when Ogdensburg was a proud community full of oppurtunity.
Remember change in the fall

The city is Doomed period !! Ubless it wakes up and gets QUALIFIED , SMART and Courageous leadership to step up to the plate and RUN for office .

If this were to occur Nelson et al would EASILY be beaten -- their record is absolutely ABSYMAL
