Journal:Hacketts Store Goes To Auction
Hacketts Final Days
A piece of history will be missing from Ogdensburg after April 6th. The Hackett store will be auctioned off this will end a multigenerational family operation.
A sad reminder of the times today . Hopefully it will bought and put to good use. I heard from a good sourse that the Medical group in Potsdam may buy it and use it for a cancer treatment facility if the price is right. Thats good news if its true. Our local economy may face yet enother blow when the prison closes and have no doubt it will close. Now the Bridgre and Port Authority and the city are at odds over several items. Looks to me like a power struggle but all signs are that the Bridge is right on the issues.
Why would the Bridge and Port buy up Samina when they had a contract fro many more years with taxes due. Now Port owns it and no revenue coming from it. Mashaw's uprupt diparture speaks loudly. The Port is in trouble
