Journal:Ritchie Appointed Agriculture Committee Chair

Chair of Agriculture & Markets
Looks like Senator Ritchie took over where Senator Aubertine left off by Chairing the Agriculture Committee.  Senator Ritchie was also appointed to some powerful committees that directly affect Northern New York.  Tourism, Economic Development & Small Business, Corrections, Energy, Education and Local Government directly relate to our community.  With tough economic times and a 10 billion dollar deficit voting in these committees will be difficult and would directly impact our community.

I believe Senator Aubertine lost his election because he lost touch with the voters, let NYC run his campaign, and spent money like it was his.  Senator Ritchie was elected on her conservative platform.  The question now, are the voters willing to swallow that big pill?

Mr. Aubertine made enough connections while in office that Governor Cuomo just appointed Darrel Aubertine as state Agriculture Commissioner. Mr. Aubertine was the chair of the Agriculture Committee and he did win all the milking contest as our Senator.

Its great she is appointed to committees. Who appointed her.. Come to find out Dean Skelos her mentor appointed her..
Aubertine never lost contact with the people he just go lazy. When needed however he came through. Ritchies conservative campaign as you put it was do nothing or say nothing and let the voter hatred of whats happening take it course. As far as a platform she had none.
She get the test soon with the Ogdensburg Correctional facility on the line again. This is undoubtly a old costly prison to run with few inmate resources available... The sex predator factory should be done away with and consolidated somewhere else .
Its nice Alcoa came back but that had nothing to do with Ritchie or any politican up here. She needs to fight from the start about keeping the most cost efficient units open regardless where they are located when it comes to corrections. She needs to keep an open eye to the Governors message.
Even though she is new and will be influenced alot during her first year she is very smart and knows right from wrong.
I hope her only the best in her endeavor but I,m thinking that after two years nothing of significance will have transpired

Ms. Ritchie will be smart to support the Governors mandate cutting idea and his wanting to do away with some of the non=esential authoritys in the state.
The prison cuts are inevidable and need tocome where the experts say. The most costly prisons the oldest and the least sufficient would be the logical chhoices. She needs to stand by her experts and if its in her district she should be sure then support the closures. We cant keep prisons fully staffed with only partial inmate capasities.

I dont care and am not impressed on how many committees Ritchie is picked for nor did I care about Aubertine. Its all publicity.. To me the proof is in the pudding.
We need help here in Ogdensburg. With about 28 percent of the property in Ogdensburg being the tax base we need help on the state level. We will also have to help ourselves at election time. Again, the proof is in the pudding..
We need committees formed local to look into disolvement as a city. This committee would look at the facts and tell us if we can save or is it wasted time. Boy wonder Vaugh should be looking into this type of thing not forming committtes to give himself resume material.
This city needs help on the police force ridding ourselves of the vermin that we have collected since the prisons located here. A new DA might be in order also.
I have seen time and time again calls for neighborhood watches which I might add is like putting a bandade on a cut throat. We need help on the police force with a volunteer force that could perfom duties that now take our officers away from important scum bag business.
We need local help getting rid of the anti business attitude now present in City Hall. We need more people friendly personnel in the planning position adn the managers position.
We need more time spent on the city itself instead of the waterfront.. Council must make the manager go in different directions instead of what he wants to do.
Hopefully our state reps will help our local government....
ALSO WE NEED OPEN AND TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT IN ALL AREAS OF CITY GOVERNMENT NOT JUST WHAT THE MANAGER AND MAYOR WANT
Do you all ever notice the council or its members never post? Why? They read these sites and they see the problems so whats the problem?

Ritchie has to support the governor, it is the platform she established during her election. She needs to follow through, and perform the functions she was elected to.
She has been very credible and I feel she will follow through with her promises.

She better deliver or will be replaced . No more political pandering to special interests we voted for Change not the status quo . Taxes and expenses must be cut , payrolls must be cut , agencies must be eliminated or consolidated , local governments must be reduced and consolidated.

No more talk -- its time FOR ACTION
