Our fair city must research the possibility of doing the same. If not completely abolishing the job at least cutting it to part time.
This mans salary is much to high for a city of less than ten thousand.. The city has steadily declined over the last decade and will continue to do such.
Fire THIS manager .
Restructure the position to reflect the need for a city of under 9000 ( convicts are NOT taxpaying citizens) .
Suggestion is to consolidate the duties of Comptroller and Manager into a CFO role give that office the existing manager's staff support and eliminate the manager's dedicated line .
We certainly could do withuut this position and a couple of others. The politicans will disagree. They are afraid of being accused of micromanaging and thats what this guy does daily with the depts..His decision to give some cops an absolutely golden oppurtunty to retire will cost this city for years. The cops just retiring were given a ten thousand dollar bonus and paid hospitalization for them and their spouses.. This is absolutely absurb but its been kept quiet. In order to make up this money we have had to work short in the dept and our streets show it.
Anon 4:08 is very true this agreement was kept on the down low. Most ppl in Ogdensburg have not heard about this deal and no one is talking about it. It was not in the paper, that the journal again. These are the deals that undermind the tax payers now and down the road.
We will pay for this for sometime.
This eeal should have never been made. The journal kept it quiet and the pols havnt said a thing. Why? This is exactly what is wrong with the city.. Everything off the cuff. Again the manager needs to be fired
Thank Fred Bean, the mighty negotiator for the department. He is retiring and got everything he asked for. That was some kind of negotiations, the public never got wind of it. Art rolled over at 100,000/year, I guess he was looking out for the tax payer.
Council right now is split on firing the manager. The three amigos will vote to retain him and three others want him gone.. Dan Skamperele is the deciding vote. He campagned on change and not going with the status quo. He campaigned about making people accountable. Now it is his time to step up and forfill what he run for.
Mr Skamperle it is time to Man UP -- this is your time to do the right thing and restructure/consolidate the role and cut the payroll.
Ogdensburg IS IN CRISIS and things have NOT improved under the current mgr, it is time for a change.
