Journal:Brothers Poised To Chair Legislature

Sallie A. Brothers
Sallie Brothers, District 12 is going to step up to the plate with the Democrats almost losing the majority in November.  They have a 8 - 7 lead over the Republicans and lost some of the Democratic dead weight and problematic legislators.  This may be one of the better boards the voters put in office.  Sally has been on the County Legislature since 2003 and could bring some continuity to both parties.

Karen St. Hilaire, County Administrator will be under the gun this year with most Counties having hard time in meeting expenses.  The County Employees are looking at a couple pay raise plus their step raises...time must be good in St. Lawrence County's Pocketbook.

Things have to be better. The employees got a reasonable raise . The problem now is whth the Sheriffs employees. They expect more than what the others get. Time will tell...
Fitzrandolph, Turbett, Forsythe are gone.. Trouble all of them. Anti employee and anti everything. Things are looking up in that respect.. Waiting to see who the Governor appoints to replace Ritchie until next year . Waiting on Nelson to name new partime judge.. Rumor has it Collins from Silver and Collins will take it.
Possibly young Silver himself.. Outside possibility LaMay...

The county needs to streamline all of its departments . the payroll needs to be trimmed and the legislature needs to be less good ole boy and reflect the the professionalism and courage needed to cut the expense side of the budget , Demand Accountability and Transparancy and HOLD MANAGERS FEET TO THE FIRE to produce desired results .

We can no longer afford affable , ineffective representatives who simply bleed the taxpayer , deliver few effective results and suck up salary and benefits that exceed the ability of the tax base to sustain such waste .

Ms Brothers WILL NEED TO PRODUCE results and get this trainwreck of a county government back on the rails

One issue the old legislature addressed but never acted on was the use of County vehicles.. They were looking at cutting it in half.. The Journal reported that 15 Sheriffs vehicles were being taken hom but she would recommend five.. Whats been done with this?
Another issue would be to put all accounting under the supervisionof the Treasurer.. I have read where Dept social service, public health , etc have their own accounting dept with not enough to do.. At least look at these type things.
