Journal:City Police Seek Investigation Help

We Could Use a Few in Ogdensburg
Well we can add one more to the long list of felonies that have occurred in Ogdensburg. Some of her actions raise questions that make the police want to contact the two females that picked her up walking home. Why not call from Dixie Lee? Why walk all the way home and tell something to two strangers that offered her a ride? Hopefully the two woman can answer these questions.

Will this go as another unsolved case or maybe she knew the person and is not willing to identify him. This needs to be resolved and the DA's offices needs to set an example by prosecuting a few and not plead everything down.

650 Summons!!!!
Well the DA will have her hands full with the Oxley trial on the horizon.  They asked him to plead guilty with time served but he turned down the offer.  With 650 jury summons in the mail, I wonder if they can find anyone in the County that has not come to a conclusion on Oxley's guilt or innocents.

Violent crime, gang crime and hard-drug crime are out of control in this city yet we have most of our police busy writing tickets. It is just another sign of the misplaced priorities of city staff, our elected officials AND the people in this town.

There is nothing about Ogdensburg right now that doesn't scream for onlookers to 'STAY AWAY' or 'GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN.'

When you have some many cops working during the day it is hard to fight crime at night. The people should contact their councilors and demand more cops assigned to the night shift.

The Chief of Police is one of the good old boys and he should be held accountable. But that will never happen in Ogdensburg.

So bad guys have a field day in Ogdensburg. Ogdensburg is wide open during the night.

Dont blame Duve.. Her budget is in the hands of the legislature.
Either cut the Sheriffs detective force or cut her two investigators . Both are not needed..
Plea bargains are the way to go because most of the area cops troopers included do poor investigative work thus her cases break down and are weak at times.
Oxley case is a good example. She was saddled with this case because Gary Niles who was DA at the time rushed to judgement to gain an edge for an election..(Somewhat like Nelson firing Sciorra). Cops from all departments gave her weak statement some of which were lies and just plain fabricated plus she had one of her investigators lie in court which again took away from her case...
No pleas here for sure. He wont e found not guilty rather the jury will be hung again.
COPS THAT LIE IN COURT OR ON THEIR STATEMENTS NEED TO BE ARRESTED FOR PERJURY A FEW TIMES AND THEIR JOBS TAKEN AWAY.. That would also help..
I dont know what the priority is for the OPD but it certainly isnt solving felonys.

Pretty simple.. Her immediate boss got horny... She was afraid to turn him in...
Beware of sales this week on Dixie Lee Fried Chicken..
And you want our cops to solve this. Not going to happen.. They have a couple of detectives now that are labeled pathetic....
Our law enforcement has been in bad shape for years. Too many pretty boys on the force. Too many cliques on the law enforcement level laying judgment on people that have enough problems with out cop problems.
More time on the streets is necessary. Auxillary Force needed but not being looked at by anyone.

I agree the crime in this city is out of control and our do NOTHING politicians are busy screwing around with politics .

Get off your Dead Asses and solve the crime problems . Heads should roll!

TO THE EDITOR OF THIS BLOG.
She didnt call from Dixie Lee because it was the co-owner who dragged her inside.. He has a history of this type of thing.. You will probably read about it in Sundays paper..
The police wnet to DL and found her shoes and some of her items inside therestraunt.. Take it from there folks.

Thats pretty consistant with the story on the streets last night.
If this is true the police shouldnt have any problem finding evidence.
Dont rush to judgement and do it right. Then its up to the DA to de-commission this a--hole.

Nelson & Morley now have the high priced attorneys (Sugarman Law Firm) from Syracuse to defend them because of their careless acts. Why should the taxpayers suffer, shouldnt we hold them personally liable? What's this going to cost the city?

Anonymous said...

Is that true? Why would Nelson and Morley have different (and more expensive) attorneys than the rest of the city council and the city itself? The legal fees are adding up folks. This is so stupid. Why don't they simply follow the contract they agreed to with Sciorra, and dismiss him?

Anonymous said...

Does this mean Sciorra will "beef up" his legal team as well. He's pretty smart, so don't expect him to "take a knife to a gunfight". Mayor Graham of Watertown was right weeks ago when he said the lawyers will make lots of money from this, and then, they will have to follow Sciorra's contract and pay him anyway. Too bad we don't have a Mayor that has that much wisdom.

We seem to get off the subject at times on this site..
Crime is the topic...
Rumor on the streets is consistant with a previous blog but its apparent she is either hesitant to make the complaint or they are now consulting with the DA as to what the charges should be.
One of the problems with our local police department is that there is a lot of womanizing that goes on every day every shift. I wont blame all the officers because all of them dont indulge in it.
I see it daily. I see officers visiting different females and spending time (too much) at the residence. I see daily drug dealers selling their product, because the cops are not interested in seeing what we see on t he streets. Drug dealers notoriously have (hotties for ladies or wives) good looking women around them. Cops would rather look good (like da man) to them then to do good police work.Look at the broken marriages on the force and put one and one together...
Secondly their numbers are not enough but are atax dollars cannot support jobs on the force. This calls for a review of the auxillary or volunteer force thats been talked about here before.
It has its good points and some bad points also but it dosnt cost the taxpayers a dime.. There is also a surplus of people will ing to help out..
Whether or not it would work is unknown but no one and I mean no one is even looking into this possiblity..
The council, the police chief and the officers union should sit down a consider a move in this direction. Sheriff Knowlton had the program and it was sucessful to some extent but of course there was some legal repercussions that later were found in the Counties favor...
If we cant get this started somehow I feel we lose..
I call on Mike Morley to at least bring this up at a meeting and have a discussion on the pros and cons... Possibly form a committee to reseach it in other areas.

It's very true. The NYS AG needs to get involved with this. Nelson is negotiating legal services for himself. Furthermore, it's been discovered that his own family financially benefited from city housing programs. Public corruption at its best.

Anonymous said...

We've known that for quite awhile. Anyone remember when uncle art gave Nelson's son a job??? Nepotism and public corruption have been Nelson's legacy.

Anonymous said...

Hey Scoopy, you have a lot of valid points. The problem is Ogdensburg "some how" elected one of the most notorious abusers of public service. The way i see it Mr. Ashley should pay back a third of his past income to the tax payers as this was how much time he spent sitting around his family members homes during all his shifts. Today's fine young officers were trained by who??

Scoopy said...

Tomorrow night is Arts public hearing.. By the end of the night you will hear Sciorras side of the events of his dismissal... After you have heard them think for a couple of hours about what you hear and I think yo will come to a conclussion different from what you have now..
lets see if the paper publishes a fair sided version the next day..

Anonymous said...

This is Christopher Robins.. I will write what I see and hear as usual and avoid the rumor mill.. If you want to spread stupid conspiracy theories, than that is you're problem.

Scoopy said...

If you are Chris Robbins why not sign in as Chris Robbins..Its because signing in with someones name may be illegal>
If you are Chris Robbins you apparently dont know how to use a computer which explains some of your stories. I think possibly Bill Nelson or Mike Morley gave you your stories.
Be a little more objective in your reporting sir and a little more independand from Liz. I know shes your boss and you have to do what your told but comman man their is two sides to this story.
What time is the hearing?????

Anonymous said...

Chris Robbins is a left-wing liberal, just like most of those media types. There's a picture of him in a Obama shirt on his facebook page. It is doubtful he would be taking marching orders from big bill Nelson or Machiavellian Morley.

Scoopy said...

He does not take orders from them. He takes his orders from Liz Lyons. He is a lazy writer. Who ever takes a story to him will get it printed. Morley and Nelson have downed the Media from square one on this issue but lately have run daily to him in order to keep their side in the limelight.
Again.... What time is the meeting today.. Anyone....
Today we finally get our chance to here Art Sciorra give his side of the story... Its obvious that he only wants what is righfully his its Nelson and Morley who have created the entire episode and drama so far.. The legal expenses will exceed what Sciorra is owed but Nelsons passion to keep this alive for the elections got us where we are. Morleys ignorance showed big time during this affair also. If Mike would have stuck to his agenda it would have been alright but he joined the Nelson re-election team, spreading rumor and untruths against Jack McGrath and Art Sciorra.. I think Mike was right when he voted to fire Art previously but he was outvoted by the other counsilors, but he got way off base on this one..
Mike I hope when Nelson leaves us next year your prepared for the fallout....

Christopher Robbins said...

This is Chris Robbins, and the meeting is at 7 p.m.

If you are going to steal my identity, at least spell my name correctly.

For the record, many people come to me with stories, but never Mayor Nelson or Deputy Mayor Morley.

What what I find very interesting about this whole scenario is when I first started campaigning Dan Skamperle took me to Mike Morely's house and we sat on his front porch and visited for a good half hour. Morely pointed to 19 Nelson signs he had on his porch and said no way am I handing these signs out and he continued to absolutely cut the man down. His wife signed my petition and Mike said he would have too if he hadn't already signed Bill's but he offered his support. Well we all know the rest of the story. I have hesitated to bring this out because I don't want it to sound like sour grapes. Morely is always calling people out to speak the truth, am I lying Mike? Maybe we should ask Skamperle. What is going on in this City right now is such a tragedy. What kind of a thrill are you getting out of frivolously spending tax payers hard earned money to feed your ego(s)? Did you support Nelson the whole time or did he offer you a deal? You lied to one of us which one was it.

Scoopy said...

Nice to hear from you Jack.. Yes Morley has cut up Nelson for years for being too prim and proper. He cut out the public input into city government by making them sign in prior to a meeting and only five minutes to express themselves with no answers in sight. Morely cut up Powers and Vaugh for their constant voting with Nelson on issues and for Nelsons ignoring people like Stev Rose and his problems yet he supported him during the election .
I will point out that he told me at first he would support you if you ran but once Sciorra hit the news he turned maniac.
He appears to be getting a thrill about cutting this man up also. His statements on this blog and in public have brought about a potential lawsuit which could cost us thousands.. Now he lays in silence and blogs anom..
He has said he would support more open meetings with question and answers sessions for the public but Nelson wont have any part of it on camera. He wants town hall meeting . While they are not fruitless they are not on record nor will anything but enhancing Nelson future gained from them..

Is Chris Robbins a younger Chuck Kelly living in a state of denial?. If you talk to Chuck, he can never remember personally destroying people's lives to sell newspapers either. If Mike Morley wasn't going to him with stories, then Christopher must have been sleeping on those Nelson signs on Morley's front porch, because Mike sure as heck got his side of the story in the paper. Remember Chris, it got so one-sided, Nick Vaugh had to go to robo-calls? Like Chuck, you can pretend all you want you treated everyone fairly, but there is a silent majority out here who knows what you did. Have you no shame?

Anonymous said...

Newspapers don't print unsubstantiated bullshit and rumors.

Anonymous said...

The paper is one sided but I don't think it's Chris Robbins, it's Liz and beyond. Chuck Kelly has done more harm than good for Ogdensburg and should just retire and leave town. Liz is in total denial and probably has a hard time looking at herself in the mirror.

Anonymous said...

OK Al. Let's double down. Maybe we should cut Chris some slack. Let's watch the city council hearing on TV, whenever it is on, and then compare it to Chris' coverage. Also, It will be interesting to see how the new councilors react when they are presented with unadulterated facts showing both sides of the story.

Anonymous said...

I heard Nelson wants to squash the camera in the room tonight. That speaks for his character.
Did they ever find who leaked the report to the media??
My guess is the city clerk under Nelsons encouragement.. They are trying to insinuate Vaugh or Skamperele but I cant believe that.

Anonymous said...

Council did nothing. Surprise!

Scoopy said...

No suprise.. Nelson wants this behind him asap...
I think council needs to look closely at this now and do the following
A. Rid the city of anyone who failed to follow Arts orders
B..Look very close at the Charter. I would be in favor of limiting the managers powers.
C. Close the door on nepotisim..
D. Closer reviews of the councilon dept heads along with managers input.. Perhaps a committee of both parties who would report to full counsil on a regular basis .
E. City not to compete with any business.
F. Question and answer session at every meeting for public with no sign in necessary. Council answers questions then...
E. council does their own hiring process. That includes inquireries and advertising. City manager responsible.
F. Open form of government not Nelsons hide behind closed doors sessions.

Anonymous said...

Nelson has run this entire situation behind the scenes for too long. He is breaking open meetings laws by not giving the reason for his executive sessions when calling for them, and somebody in this city needs to sue him for taking a government that is supposed to be open and by, for and of the people into a smokey back room.

Nelson can't be trusted.

Anonymous said...

What can we do to get rid of Nelson? With an eleven vote victory, he didn't have all that much support anyway. I bet a lot more than 6 people have changed their minds about him since the truth is starting to come out.

Anonymous said...

The scary thing is that all these people ran on transparency and open government. They all lied to us.

Anonymous said...

Chris: Much fairer article. However, "the lie" theme has outlived it's purpose. Please remember, "the lie" theme was quoted over, and over, and over, and over again by Morley until YOU picked it up As A FACT, and it took a life of it's own as YOU kept repeating it as FACT. The good thing is, in a court of law it does not matter a wit how many times you and/or Morley repeat it because it has no meaningful factual content in the legal case.
If the only thread of anything you have on Art Sciorra is he misspoke while being "water boarded" during the Inquisition carried on in the 1st city council hearing, then maybe it's time to admit there was never anything there more than the stuff made up by Nelson and Morley, and then reported AS FACT by YOU.
The guy at 4:17 yesterday said you are being forced to write this stuff by your editor. Well, it might be time for you to "man up", and stick to the facts of the case.

Anonymous said...

As long as the council uses 'the lie' as one of their reasons to fire sciorra and as long as sciorra keeps denying that he said point-blank to morley that he lied, i think it is news that should be written and broadcast - unless you don't want robbins to report the whole story and be biased towards sciorra.

After all, it isn't everyday that the city manager admits on camera to god and everyone that he lied.

Anonymous said...

Well Mike, you can keep saying that. But as you know, especially after you got "stuffed" last night, it means nothing. Why should we believe anything YOU write or say? Let's take a poll. How many people out there think the city would be a lot better off if Mike Morley would simply SHUT UP!!!

Anonymous said...

Shut up and step down would be my preference

Anonymous said...

Please remember the haste shown by Nelson and Morley to get their hand picked canidate, Wayne Ashley, on the council before Christmas to "stack" the council to fire Sciorra. BTW: Remember when Morley said in The Journal he wanted Ashley? We have to wonder why there was such a big hurry? We have to wonder why Stevenson and Hosmer weren't even invited to the meeting. Could it be Nelson and Morley were afraid their "trumped up" charges weren't going to pass muster in a new (and probably independent thinking) council?
What's going to happen now? This thing is beginning to stink more every day. Nelson and Morley. Nelson and Morley. Nelson and Morley. It is time to see their names tied to this fiasco as many times as Art Sciorra's.
Either The Journal was part of this thing or is staffed the most incompetent journalists on the planet. Take your pick.

Anonymous said...

The bottom line is: Sciorra, the outsider, will be fired. Then, Nelson and Morley, the locals, can save face. The only way for Ogdensburg to keep this pattern from repeating is to keep Sciorra, and somehow get rid of Nelson and Morley.
If this pattern of incest doesn't stop, OGDENSBURG should change it's name to DELIVERANCE because no one from the outside will EVER want to work here. Get out the banjos boys!!

Anonymous said...

You guys keep this up on that guy robbins he is just going to leave the town for greener pastures and then all this stuff will be swept under the rug again.

If not for him, none of these shenanigans would be known by anyone.
