Ogdensburg's School Budget Past 628 -361 |
I keep asking myself who the victims are, is the taxpayers or the students because we know who the winners are. Teachers continue to get laid off across the county and many are forgoing raises and paying something on the health insurance to retain as many teachers as possible. After all it is about the kids!
The school consolidation pre-report indicates consolidation of all school districts into 4 districts. We will never see this happen as long as we are willing to pay higher taxes. I guess the majority of taxpayers have not reached their limit yet...reflected with the 628-361votes. I guess the teachers got out and voted this year.

The school resourse officer does little or nothing all day.. He has something to do with DARE but that is a fEd program that has been proven a fraud and failure. Without tying to bring personalities into this Mr. Grady or Grunt Grady his nickanme given by Ogdensburgs criminals is of no use at all at the school. Some of the woefull problems in this district... However the taxpayers approved the budget so they can blame themselves latter....
There is absolutely NO way that ANY school budget in Ogdensburg will EVER be defeated . The teachers and employees and their extended families OUTNUMBER the rest of us who vote and will override ANY attempt to bring cost in line .
Too many sit on their rear ends at home and refuse to vote. Taxpayers Get used to getting screwed -- UNTIL you get off your lazy duffs and hold this runaway train accountable
Why do those who do not believe in free election and voting continue to live in this country?
If Democracy is so undesirable, then move to a country with Facist leanings. You will be so happy.
The people voted, the budget was passed and that is that.
Stop all the crying like a bunch of little girls. What is the problem? The S.T.A.R. program has other people paying your school taxes for you anyways. You seem to have no problem with free handouts.
Vote, turn out and stop this out of control spending .
There is absolutely no excuse to bitch IF YOU DID NOT VOTE. However if you did vote. you must urge others to do so because the UNIONS will turn out en masse to protect THEIR gravy train . Its NOT about the kids it about salaries and retirements and health insurance bennies
If you want any change to this situation, next year general taxpayers need to vote to override the school district employees who outnumber the general public AT THE POLLS .
Amen... Dont blame the unions for doing their job.. Blame the taxpayer who allows teachers to control their budget and ontrol the vote... We have a school board thats supposed to represent us but they dont.. The teachers show up in force at meetings and set their own agenda.. School board members are intimidated by teachers. They dont want to look bad on camera or in public and with so many teachers on site they can do just that...
Would all those people who think Teachers and Unions are the problem and have it too good just go get the paperwork done and become teachers.
If it is such a great deal, then go do it. If you do not do that, then you are just professional whiners.
10 :41's attitude is exactly what we're talking about --IT's NOT about the kids OR about IMPROVING quality its about YOUR $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and greed . When is the LAST time you offered to take a cut to save jobs ???.
The school yr is an anachronism that goes back to when this country was an agricultural economy. It's time to seriously reform employment expectations and reward PERFORMANCE not MORE or in some cases LESS of the SAME for over a 3 decade long "career". Society can no longer afford to carry shirkers . Great teachers should be well paid . Mediocre teachers should be terminated there is NO room for second best
And BTW I have a few advanced degrees and have taught

So, did you leave teaching because you were not very good at it or because it did not pay much?
I suppose you consider yourself qualified to decide just who the good teachers and the bad ones are.
Good for you.
I was in the business for over 3 decades and YES to be sure i know what good teaching looks like.
I also WORKED in the Private sector too for several years
