WDT:Clerk says county failed to collect adequate fees

Patty remind us (county legislators) to enact a tax we put a moratorium on!
The election is getting closer and Mr. Regan is grabbing any kind of press, mostly negative press with plenty of mudslinging. Mr. Bellardini has done his job by having Governor Cuomo appoint Galvin Regan as County Clerk. Galvin will earn his stripes when the voters put him in office. Slamming Senator Ritchie, an icon of County Clerks will only hurt his run this fall.   Patty generated "ungodly" amounts of revenue for St. Lawrence county, expanded services, strategically located office throughout the county, stood strong on new license plates, and turned customer service around.

His first mistake was firing Mrs. Rupp, these declarations by Galvin against Senator Ritchie will just add insult to injury.  Negative campaigning, and negative press have never won elections in St. Lawrence County.  This is almost reminiscing of the first campaign Ritchie ran against Steve Teele.  Look where he is today.

Yet ANOTHER screw up -- this man is a disaster . Come November the PEOPLE WILL git rid of the problem and elect THEIR choice . Buh BYE.

This individual couldn't lace up Ms Ritchies sneakers ! While i'm skeptical of her as a Senatoe , she WAS a great County clerk and probably should have STAYED there and be able to have real impact . The Senate is a mess

Be that what it may this office will be filled by someone Better qualified come next election !

The truth bothers people dosnt it? I believe the man was right on. Seeing it was a Republican controlled legislature that voted to put this on the back burner it seems now that everyone wants to really bypass the real issue. Regan is doing a great job. His firing of Rupp was a godsend to us. Imagine her being put in as first Deputy because of friendship while a girl who has been with the Coutny for over twenty years got bypassed. The gall of this woman wanting to bump a good civil servant when she took this appointed job quite on her own..
The bottome line is Ritchie whould have brought this item back up to the legislature after a year and if she didnt she is responsible for loosing us the money. The real Sad thing about Mr Regans tenure is he has the Republican press against him ad that will hurt. They will report what they want you to think regardless of the underlying facts... If Ritchie didnt sscrew up the Republican controlled legislature and Tom Nichols screwed up... Blame who you want egan did his job and report the problem to us...

Your forgetting Rupp gave one of her friends a leave of absence to take another job. She withheld this information from the legisltors and tried to sneak by bhem and have them hire another person to replace her. Then if she decided she didnt like her new job she would come back and the new hire would be let go. We dont need this type of sneaky politics working for us.... Rupp got what she deserved... November will bring an election and if the majority want this type of inadequecy running the Clerks offiice you can vote for Rupp and get her back.. For now we are in good hands.

No what we have here are party hacks defending the ineptitude .

Next time we the people get to vote and get rid of an underwhelming political appointee and NOT have this FORCED upon us from Governor Status Quo MO

Just to clear the record, the Dems had control of the county legislature. The last election saw the GOP take the majority of the seats but the dems still control. Therefore this policy was established by the dems and dropped by the dems. Then who better to feed Mr. Galvin some inside information. If Mr. Galvin continue to listen to Sallie and Mark his chances to make a show in the Nov. race will be slim to none and slim just left the building.
Blaming Ritchie, "an icon of county clerks" is just another step in Mr. Galvin's demise. Sally should look in the mirror when casting blame as should all others that control the legislature who are ultimately responsible for enacting policy.

Why? Rupp was forced on us by Ritchie. Ritchie stepped over a twenty year veteren of the department in favor of a friend and a judges wife. We as a electorate certainly would expect more than Ms. Rupp.. Ms Streeter who now is Deputy one is a world of experience in that department and was stepped over . That dosnt seem right. Now your defending the person who stepped over her and tried to force another employee out of their job... Dont understand your rationale... Inept isnt what the office staff at the clerks office wrote in the paper. They say they enjoy working for him and hes quite competant.

Poly... Your facts are conveniently wrong.. Nov 15th 2004 Tom Nichols was chairman of the Republican controlled Legislature in this County. One year later in Nov they were still in control. It was a Repulican contolled Legislature that put this on hold and it was the same legislature failing to act the next year.
The thing that obvious is that when the new legislature was elected and the Democrats took control in 05 Ritchie failed to bring this item back up or too their attention.. No big deal but facts are facts..
Yours always seem to be a bit confusing when it comes to any critizing of Republicans....
The fact is when Patty Ritchie was our County Clerk she raised fees and recommended raising others to gain revenues for this County. Fees boiled down on paper amounts to taxes for us citizens using these services. We already pay the salaries of these people and now we have to pay again for them to work for us... We hired new personnel in her dept in order to gain revenue from NYC liscence registrations, however we all know this will end some day.. A good deal of her time and our money went for her to campaign for her new position as sEnator which I may add shes not very good at so far... Mr Regan has since come in and is cleaning up the office and getting rid of useless personnel. He unlike Ritchie so far has showed no partialisim towards his friends and appointed anyone based on friendship...

Keep Drinking the party Kool Aid !

Nov is coming and so is change in that office .

Why is Kathy Steeter running. Shes the only competant Republican that possibly could be interested.. Oh and by the way to the editor.... Mr. Teele is alive and well.. We should all do as well as Mr. Teele...

Nancy Martin assured Ms Rupps dismissal with her crying and gloating. Ms Rupp could have done the job and got buy until November but the Governor exercised his rights to appoint.. Big Deal.. If this guy dosnt work out then we will put someone else in office after November. Right now he appears to be getting along with staff as their letter indicates. He hasnt lost any revenues as Martin cried about. In fact he found this descrepancy.. Whos to fault.. A republican legislature. I do think Ritchie should have presented it to the Democrats once they were in but didnt and didnt have to...
Rupp at a maximum was only a average employee.. She got her appointment because of her friendship with Party leaders and Ritchie and thats fact.. It also was her downfall in the end.
I think its wrong when lected officals like Ritchie can appoint their friends to positions like this deputy position and bypass good long time employees who are really sharp, like Ms Streeter. This could and should be changed.. Let employees earn their positions by thier longevity and good work not asskissing....
Do I think Ritchie screwed up.. No Do I think the Republicans screwed up.. Probably... Should the fees be raised... No not now...
I commend Regan for finding this potential problem and bringing it to our attention.. The only ones offended are Rupp supporters and they really arent offended they are only seeking the chance to play down Regans good performance so far. Poly you are really off base on this one....

the people no one else will determine who should be the clerk. Political hacks , insiders with axes to grind, and party ass kissers have zero credibility.

; ;Your one hundred percent correct 830// However its not the case. People like this Poly and the editor of this blog and the local media write deceptions and lies about events and people. This for instance has been blown out of proporton . Its been brought to our attention by the man responsibe now its up to the legislators to act or not. Period....

Legislators in THIS county are inept ...PERIOD !!

The county has been a damn fiefdom for the hacks , ass kissers and insiders for too damn long! That needs to be overturned THIS November

Just run for office and we will kiss your ass 626. You seem like a good logical taxpayer who is concerned about the events

The editor make reference to Steve Teele of Lisbon in a particulary funny way... Mr Teele was a popular Republican Legislator who tried to seek the office. He opposed Ritchie and lost.. The reason he lost was not Ritchies popularity but Teele at that time had ticked off the high and mighty in the epublican Party. There had been a charge on at that tiem to get rid of the County Administrator led by Richard Wilson of Ogdensburg. Brining had dug up some inproperieties on Wilson and some of the legislators about their billing for mileage. Wilson turned on Brining for other reasons and when h did Brining tried to get the then DA Richards to prosecute Wilson.. The matter got more bitter as it went on until finally they voted on tiring him.. Teele was the deciding vote in Brinings favor. Even though it was the GOP that led the charge and saved his job Teele had let on he would go along with the firing. ,

fACTS are all we are interested in... Fact is Republicans controlled the legislature.. Fact is Ritchie wouldnt sponsor or favor any change howerver she informed the legislature. Facts are Nichols opposed it from the start hes republican.. Fact is the GOP contrlled legislature didnt act on it and made it a moritorium for one year.. FAct is the GOP controlled legislature didnt act on it in one year.. Fact is the Gop controlled County Clerks office didnt inform the legislature now Democratic in any form of this... Fact a now Democratic County CLerk reported it.. Good job..... NOw its up to the legislature again to do something or sit on it some more... Done throwing mud for now Ms Rupp....

Facts can be manipulated by vested interests who are not well intended .

The voters will determine who will prevail.

The legislators are and have proven over the long run, regardless of their political stripe to be less than satisfactory as leaders. I'm an Independent voter have zero interest in either Regan or Rupp but detest the political BS i've witnessed in this whole event .

A vote for Kathy Streeter and a little encouragement to run would speak volumns for a no political agenda.. Katy is a 21 year vetern of the dept and she knows her stuff. Even Ritchie would have to support her or look stupid.
