Journal:83-Year-Old Murdered At His Ford Street Home

Another Homicide in Our City
How do we look at our fair city now!  Very few people leave their doors unlocked anymore.  There was a time when you could go on vacation for a week and neighbors would look after your home.  Those days are long gone with drug dealers and scumbags overwhelming our fair city.

Drugs seem to be the root of most problems in our city, state, and country.  The democrats continue to release drug dealers and drug users back to the streets.  They continually say they are addicts and prison is not the answer.  I do agree they are addicts but addicts end up stealing, robbing, and eventually killing to get their next fix.  Why should any family be victimize by drug users and our kids exposed to drug deals growing up in our town.

Everyone is tight lipped on the current investigation but it would not surprise me if our current homicide is related to drug selling or drug stealing.  It is time to chase these dirt bags from our city.  Everyone seems to know who and where they are dealing drugs and the cops should press these individuals hard every day.

The police should make this priority one in cleaning up this city. Drug dealers continue to move into the area and take advantage of our lenient court system.

What next? At what point will our legislators make criminal activities a target.

I guess if we arrest all the criminals the population in ogb will drop 20 percent.

IMO its NOT the police that are the problem . They arrest these people and the courts seemingly turn them back on the street after a short period of time . the JUSTICE system is in need of a major overhaul

Some feel that OUR political/civic leaders in this city who BROUGHT prisons, sex offenders, SVP's , ANR SRO's into town AS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT are also responsible for this downfall .

This kind of social degradation follows these facilities all over the US . The history is there , But did our local leaders listen 25 yrs ago when they were told -- NO.

They chose to ignore reality, cast ridicule and criticism on any local opposition and WILLINGLY brought in these "magnets" for social problems. While they may have had honorable intentions -- THE action they chose was the "gateway" to today"s
problems in this city ..

NOW we ALL get to NOT only PAY for this BUT also get to live in fear in this city because - IT IS NO LONGER SAFE.

Moreover The Burg has become a dumping ground for the county's sex offenders as we seem to have a disproportionate share compared to other zip codes in SLC

The future is not bright UNLESS/UNTIL THIS PROBLEM is RESOLVED .

No one with options wants to live , work , and raise children in THIS environment . Our adult children have left and soon most that have options Will too.

I have lived in Ogd must of my adult life. I have been lucky enough to have a good job. Never getting rich but always felt safe and secure. With crime increasing it is time to move to a smaller town. Lisbon and Heuv. appear to be ideal choices. Morristown did have good school grades according to standard testing.
Soon we could put a fench around ogd.

I agree totally Ogdensburg has seen its best days - it is going downhill rapidly and the shame is NO ONE seems to be doing a darn thing about it or even cares .

Those in Politics and the so called wheeler dealers are all too damn busy patting each other on the back and giving each other awards and blowing smoke about the prison INSTEAD of making this place safe . We're moving too in the spring - We've had it here -- zero leadership

Couple of posts prior this speaks the truth of the problems in our county. Our current judge and DA are releasing everyone. How times have they gone to court easier to let them go and plea bargin.

Someone steals 230K and one gets off with charges dropped and the other gets probation. The Herman Bank Robber gets electronic monitoring.

Time to crack down on crack and the other illegal drugs in our town. Time for Zero tolerance!
