No spin at all.. Oxley killed Bernie Tricky.. His arrogance and big mouth caught up with him..
I will say this however I,ve dealt with this police department before and they lie to the man.. They are trained to lie and that a lie becomes the truth when they do it.
Did Michelle give a name as to the cop who told her not to know anything?? If she didnt why wasnt one demanded?? Once she stated this that cop should have been summoned to the court to recant any testimony..
The story of Cab dirver one is reasonable but cabbie two is no more realiable than the ones the DA brought forth that said he said...
When you neighbors identify you as being in shorts coming from the direction of trickeys at that time of night and you tell the cops you were sleeping.. Somethings wrong.
The real sad part of this blog is the reality that Oxley will likely get off because of the jury confusion.. Its sad because the slime like Travis Howe, Wade Creighton like many others have committed many crimes some very violent because of the need for these drugs.. When Ogdensburg has a counsilor that hangs with these people and does what these people do its says volumes for this city. Hutchinsons have been arrested and re arressted but keep on selling. Drugs are being dispersed at a candy shop on King St but nothings done.. Otherwise nice people these people will do anything to feed their habit which in turn makes them paranoid then violent at times but our OPD does little or nothing... Hard to figure out isnt it...
Too bad we don't have the $200K Morley spent to fire Sciorra without cause, and re elect Nelson. We could use it to beef up the police force.
We dont need more cops. We need supervision of the ones we have. We need cops on the street doing their job not in the station or donut king waiting for a complaint. We dont need cops visiting their girlfriends during work hours. We dont need cops off sick all the time.. We need a chief with no ties to this department and the people working in it..
I see where Grunt Gradys job at the school is on the line again.. As soon as he has to go back to work he will retire anyway..
We also need to study and attempt to use some form of this volunteer force I,ve read about.. The Sheriff did it... Other cities use one what not us?
Has Michelle Disotelle ever gone for more than a couple of months without being arrested? And you don't think she has a reason to have a grudge against the police? So you believe a bunch of career criminals, drug dealers and drug addicts over your own police department?
How many of these people who are constantly attacking our law enforcement community have lengthy rap sheets themselves. If you check, the Ogdensburg Police Department is responsible for more drug arrests each year than any other police departmet in Northern New York.
People ought to be praising their accomplishments instead of making snide comments.
I think if we knew the identities of some of these anonymous bloggers who ridicule the police we'd find a few drunk drivers, girl friend beaters and police blotter alumni who take out their rage by attacking the police who keep ruining their fun.
That sir is a lie... Ogdensburg police force is the forth best record in drug bust in NNY. Thats not counting the Sheriffs or Troopers.. You must be on drugs to make a stupid statement like that without facts to back it up..
They have the most officers next to Massena.. they are second in pay and beennies.. They are forth in drug related arrests. Third in third in total crime busts and have the most unsloved murders this side of Buffalo or NYC in this decade...

The Sheriff's Drug Task Force doesn't count since the city police detectives provide the intell to the drug task force.
What community police force has more arrests?
We have a high drug arrest record in Ogdensburg and the highest murder rate because we have a disporportional amount of crime on our streets. Taking that into considersation we need to attack this full force. The streets of Ogdensburg have become home to the drifters, drug dealers, and dirtbags.
Actually, Ogdensburg has one of the lowest violent crimes rates in the state. It has one of the lowest incidents of violent crimes in St. Lawrence County and the lowest violent crime rate for small cities in the state.
We have a high rate of petit thefts. People stealing from cars, people stealing items off porches, out of garages and backyards.
That's a symptom of the unemployment rate.
Ogdensburg is actually quite safe.
Most assaults that do occur are guys beating the woman they love, or guys who know each other hitting each other over some real or imagined transgression. It's very unusual that you have stranger on stranger assaults.
Yes, there have been three murders in the past decade. They have all been drug related.
Sorry bloggers I have to give the OPD some credit - a B+ - or a fair rating. iT NEED'S MORE SUPPORT AND FUNDING AS ANY UNIT OR TEAM !! CARS - EQUIPMENT - AND KNOWLEDGE ARE NEEDED .
So much misinformation out there - Ogdensburg has a lower overall crime rate than much of St. Lawrence County, but violent crime and major crime are soaring in our city, as well as drug crime. Also, due to the lack of confidence in the honesty, fairness and competence of our corrupt police force, many smaller crimes aren't even being reported anymore.
Yes, there is always a lot of negative information out there provided mainly by THE OGDENSBURG JOURNAL. When it finally closes this year, it will be the BEST thing that ever happened to The Burg!

North Country Now employs ZERO reporters, it is completely dependent on stealing other people's work for its content. The North Country Now employee on here trying to get us to frequent his or her site is taking credit for others' hard work. Furthermore, there are no television stations dedicated to Ogdensburg, but there is a newspaper - though it has started to fall apart since Chuck left and Liz Graham came on the scene, The Journal's reporting blows every other news organization covering Ogdensburg out of the water. They have a couple of good young reporters in Robbins and Lawton. As newspapers shut down across the country, we should be glad that Ogdensburg can still support one - once the journal disappears, so will this city.
U'm slight correction : This city has already disappeared WHEN STUPID POLITICIANS AND THE DAMN NEWSPAPER SOLD it down the drain for a FEW PRISONS AND PERV RESORT AND SQUASHED ANY HOPE FOR A DECENT FUTURE !

Nelson has been interested in future politics since 2000. He wanted the nod to run for assembly only trouble was Ritchie got it and lost to Darrell.. Nelson backed everyone but Pat. His mind has been in future since.. This year their is a possibility that the GOP could give him their approval to run against Russell but his chances are a s good as Forsythes.. Russell does not always do the right thing for us but Nelson seems be be the same way. You ONLY got the votes TO FIRE Sciorra by rigging a committee to get Ashley on the council early, and leaving Stevenson and Hosmer off until after the new year. Why? because you were afraid Stevenson and Hosmer might be smart enough to look at the "evidence" you had rigged up tho fire Sciorra "for cause" and not vote with you.

Once this whole "setup" got out of the court of public opinion, and headed for a court of law, where there is liberty and justice for all, your case against Sciorra was exposed for the piece of crap it was.
So now, let's add it up. More than $200,000 for the Scioraa case. At least another $800,000 the city lost in grants because of the bad publicity we got from The Journal and you running your big mouth, gives us taxpayers a loss of about a cool $1,000,000.

Don't make Art out to be the victim - setting aside any program or policy issues, it was uncle art's weak management of personnel, Manager-Council relations and poor public affairs that allowed this to snowball out of control.

Both Justin Woods and Art Sciorra found out what it is like to be an outsider in Ogdensburg. You are all correct. Many people fell down on their responsibilities, but notice only the outsiders lost their jobs.
We have a dying rust belt city that with a leadership that gets more incestuous every year. We deserve leaders like Nelson, Morley, Ashley, etc. Our only hope is the Chinese buy us out, and bring over enough people to take over.

The worst part is, our best and brightest are leaving. We have become a second rate city with second rate leaders. With a second rate newspaper that is rotting from the inside out.

Our bright children left and soon most of us who have the means will too . This tired old rust bucket of a town will decline rapidly and has no future at all.
I'm saddened to see this occurring BUT the politicians and the newspaper led the charge into this decline by short sighted medicre efforts at real economic development and by WILLINGLY accepting NYS' garbage and not fighting HARD to attract and retain a much better and progressive form of intelligent economic development that would retain our brightest youngsters who ultimately would LEAD the city .

Sciorra could have been fired without cause by simply following his contract. Instead we had 8 months of drama, damaging newspaper headlines, city fathers who like to see their names in print fanning the flames, a kangaroo court hearing, a mid-term political shuffle of the city council , and a waste of taxpayer dollars.
The most damaging for Ogdensburg is the vicious, conniving, mean spiritness of this whole thing.
It's one thing to follow a man's contract and fire him. It's quite another to publicly humiliate him, attempt to destroy him as a human being.
The city council spent plenty on attorneys for this thing. Didn't any of them say," You don't have a case to fire him for cause, but you can simply follow his contract and fire him"?

The city council at the turn of the century had names like Hall, Newell, and Augsbury. Giants in our community. Now, the little men have taken over.
