Journal:Ogdensburg Job Fair Organized By GOP Senators

OGDENSBURG HOSTS FIRST JOB FAIR EXPO
Senator P. Ritchie and Senator J. Griffo are hosting a Job Fair Expo at Odd Fellows on Route 37. The fair is going to introduce individuals to training opportunities, resume and interview techniques, and potential job opportunities. Many time we look at organizations like Claxton Hepburn Medical Center and think they hire nurses, lab techs, and x-ray technicians and assume we are not qualified. Organization this large have their own Maintenance, MIS, Clerical, Business, Environmental Science, and Lawns and Grounds Departments. This is true of many other employers so it is time to get off the couch and get back into the game. Take this opportunity to check out the job fair.
With over 50 employers and agencies setting up booths unemployed workers can get information on required qualifications and the type of jobs they offer. This is a good idea and something that usually happens in Canton or Potsdam not Ogdensburg.
Senator Patty Ritchie had a similar event in Fulton and over 300 people showed up. With over 10% unemployment rate in St. Lawrence County this should be a success.

If you want to know about RB Lawrence disjposition just ask the court.. In person or FOIL it...
Nice publicity for Patty and Griffo.. THE QUESTION YOU NEED TO ASK IS iF fULTON HAD OVER 300 SHOW UP how many now have jobs? I,m not talking about pomises or possibillities.. How man are on a payroll besides unemployment... that would be a measure of sucess
Ritchie ad Nelson did a lttle promo work this week together with pic;tures at thebridge site.. Talk about two peas in a pod... Three years ago they hated each other and Nelson was endorcing her opponets..
Mr. Ma is negotiating for the Ramada Inn, St JOes old nursing home and for multi houses on the river and acreage in the Morristown area..He is also interested in Diamond and Shade Roller property..He appears interested in some of the waterfront on Riverside Ave also..Nelson Sciorra and Chadwick reality are keeping this under wraps ..
Wood chop shop delayed by Nelson for piture session near election time...
Wheres this investigation going..Nowhere....We need third party investigation and audit of all finances done.. Someone not presently on City payroll...
Call your council and complain about the time being consumed and who is doing the investigation.. Nelsons and Sciorra handpicked lawyer...
The latest argument with the COS is what to call incarcerated people.. Offenders is fine and so is inmates... What a bunchof insignificant BS from that union.... They try an fix elections now they want to choose what they call someone....

Its too bad Ritchie cant support her home county in getting home rule and a chance to rase the overall sales tax to what other counties get.
Pat has done very little for her county since being voted into office.. I am told next year is her year to do something as she is runnig for office again.
By the way it was longer than three years.. Nelson supported Scott Gray for the 118th over Ritchie.. Nelsons the one that blamed Patty and Chuck Kelly for not taking the COs petition to Albany when in fact it wasa him that neglected to forfill his obligation to the people... They were dam lucky Aubertine bailed him out...

Home rule, tell your county legislator to get their shittogether. It never passed the legislature until the Senate Session was over. It is always easy to blame. Addie did her show that did zero to nothing as usual.

As for Aulbertine he kept OCF open, thank you Albertine, Addie was the cheerleader, must of been one in high school. Ritchie is responsible for it being open this year. Thanks again to the senator in the majority.

You know what they say one job in Fulton or a job in Ogdensburg is one more of the unemployment line. Every little bit helps, it one job at a time.

What is happening with city council and the knox street house. Art will get away with everything and nelson is right behind him. The rest of the legislators need to step up.

A month after Senator Ritchie held a job fair in Oswego, Novelis announced a $200 million expansion in Oswego FRIDAY, JULY 29, 2011

OSWEGO — Aluminum sheet metal manufacturer Novelis announced Monday a $200 million expansion of its Oswego manufacturing plant. The expansion will lead to 100 new full-time employees during the next two years with 150 to 200 temporary construction jobs.

New equipment for high-performance aluminum processing for automotive applications will mean a capacity increase of 200 kilotons, a Novelis news release said, and will begin activity in the summer of 2013.

The Oswego facility is an integrated recycling, hot rolling and cold rolling complex that produces aluminum sheet for the beverage can, automotive and building construction industries.

Novelis has plants in 11 countries with 11,600 employees. The manufacturer is a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited, part of the Aditya Birla Group, based in Mumbai, India.

Do the math.

Mr. Ma is not negotiating for Shade Roller, Diamond, St. Joseph's or the Ramada. He looked at them because he's a nice person and he is interested in business opportunities. Just because you agree to look at something that's for sale, it doesn't mean you are buying.
Mr. Ma says he will focus on developing his English as a Second Language School and renovating the facilities at Mater Dei. If his school is successful, he says he may look at other business opportunities, but for now, his school will take up most of his time and focus.
St. Lawrence University is currently teaching Chinese and several of our colleges have Chinese faculty. SUNY Canton had a Chinese English as a Second Language program this past summer.
St. Lawrence County has a lot more local people with Chinese expertise than you folks seem to realize.

The houses that are being purchased were bought by some of his business partners. Having someone invest over $2 million in Ogdensburg in two months is actually a good thing for our community. The man taught himself English listening the Voice of America! He clearly believes in the American dream and sees the beauty and business potential of the St. Lawrence Valley.

Let's review the facts. The county said they would have to raise property taxes by 30 percent if they could not get a sales tax hike. Then they found a million dollars and said it would still have to rise to 25 percent.
Then they looked at it again and said they would have to raise property taxes 20 percent. Then two weeks ago it was 15 percent. Then 14 percent. Then 9 percent. Then it was 8 percent. Now fred Morrill says that if they use a realistic calculation of the Canadian purchases with the sales tax revenues, the county may be able to keep spending within the two percent property tax cap. Funny, how they just keep finding money in Canton. Thank you Senator Ritchie for refusing to cave in to tax and spenders.
It's obvious that the county legislature can hold the line on spending if we all make it clear that we'll vote out anyone who votes to exceed the tax cap.

First the county and ALL government needs to get the message : Live within your means DAMMIT- like we have to , AnY attempt to raisw taxes wil result in DEFEAT at polls as you will not be supported for re- election .

Second The city council MUST get to the bottom of this Knox street debacle , the manager MUST go he as the CEO is responsible -- NO excuses ! DO YOUR DUTY Councilors or STAND down at the next election .

This city needs to tighten up its act.The council has abrogated it role for far too long .

Lead , Follow or get the Hell out of the Way for those who CAN

1020.. I never read anything other than St Hillaire raising taxes by as much as 15 percent.. That figure has been predicted lower now and with cuts and how much they feel the public is willing to take, they will decide on cutting further... Rithcies refusal of back her home county has nothing to do with no new taxes but rather is strictly one hundred ppercent politics.. By raising the sales tax new property taxes would probably be avoided which would be a feather in the hats of the democratly controlled legislature. She nor her boss Skelos wnt that
I agree about holding the line on spending and I think they shoudl abolish the road patrol and some of the other nonmandated services this County have. I dont think Soli Waste should be privatized unless the current employees are absorbed or bought out..
Its not funny how they find money its just politics same as the Republicans played for years..

Get serious. If Ritchie had caved in and given the Democrats the sales tax increase, they would have spent the $13 million and never cut a cent from county government. Patty Ritchie stood tough and now we are discovering the county is able to reduce its insatiable appetite for spending our money.

Ritchie stood tough heh... She has done little of anything of consequence except what the Republican leadership has told her.. Finding out now that she was part of the problem in the County. Mr. Regan appointed by the Govuernor immediately cleaned the deadwood from County Cleriks office. Seemed there was too many employees there... Rupp would have had the Legislators hire more people... We need the sales tax hike like the other Counties..
What abut Ritchie standing tall when she hired a person with criminal past... Not saying much for her taste is it....

1002.. So as soon as this job fair is done your insinuating something great is going to happen in our County... Perhaps a plant that employees three or four thousand... Lets be reasistic. Her job fair had as much nfluence on hat employer as I do on how the earth moves...You sound like Nic Vaugh now.. Thats the kind of deam world he has lived in for four years.

No, you asked whether anyone got a job from the Oswego Job Fair. I am just pointing out that one of the companies that attended the Oswego Fair is hiring 100 people. 300 attended the job fair.
We can only wish the same thing could happen here. I don't think it will. But what will happen is that people who don't have a job will have a central location where they can apply for a variety of jobs and see what kind of positions are available in St. Lawrence County. A lot of people want to stay in St. Lawrence County and raise their family, but need to know what kind of jobs are available and where they can get the kind of training they'll need to get the jobs that are available.
