Journal:Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties show strong second-quarter sales tax returns

Canadian Dollars Help St Lawrence County

Sales tax returns are looking good for St. Lawrence County and other border towns. Canadians continue to pour into the US for significant saving on staple items like food and gas. The economy is improving but the recovery has been very lethargic and the Canadian customers have been a boost to the area.

St. Lawrence county legislators indicate the county's budget is in bad shape, and were looking for a sales tax increase in lieu of layoffs. Increases in sales tax returns has to be good news for the legislators and good news for the tax payers. How many more tax increases can we support in NYS.

If this tax was new I would oppose it however seeing its alive and doing well in all surrounding counties why not here?. I believe any time taxing people happens it should happen to all.. This tax does that and also includes some out of towners and canadians helping our local contributions. I never quite figured out why the SLC Republicans opposed this for so long... I guess some greedy local business men had some pull with the GOP in power up here for years.
This is the tax that your GOP senator Ritchie refuses to help our legislators obtain from the STate.. Why? Whos pulling her chain... Now shes supporting legislation that would allow our school district to borrow for pension costs.. If thats not supporting new TAXES what is.....
