Daily News:Gov. Andrew Cuomo reaches tentative deal with CSEA

Will The Members Ratify?
The deal is on the table and the layoffs are on hold.  Danny and GOER (Governor's Office of Employee Relations) have extended the contract from a 4 year contract to a 5 year contract. This will move it to the year after the governor's election. Good for the governor!

Contract:
Year 1 - zero percent raise, 5 day furlough, and increase in health insurance premiums.
Year 2 - zero percent raise, 4 day furlough
Year 3 - $1000.00 lump sum does not increase base pay
Year 4 - 2% raise
Year 5 - 2% raise

They brought each local union president to Albany so they could convince them, that this is the best deal to expect.  The local leaders were to bring the deal back to the members and encourage ratification.  This will be a difficult contract to vote for if the employee has time on the job and is close to retirement. I bet our local state employees wished they worked for the Ogdensburg School System, raises across the board and $25.00/pay check for health benefits.

Why should we expect the CSEA to accept this insurance raise. Have the teachers accepted sucha raise in their expense for medical insurance.
There will still be layoffs but not nearly as many.
This sounds like the County solving their problems on the back of their employees. Raising their insurance and then sticking it too retirees. It didnt take long to announce they are in trouble again. The article in the news recently indicates they are going to have to layoff several people and cit overtime, quit the usage of cars going home, not fill positions..mS STHILLARE HAS BEEN SAYING THESE THINGS FOR FOUR YEARS. What is going on anyway

I think this is the state CSEA contract not the county.

It is the State contract and not the County. I am just stating how the County legislators mentality is compared to the States. They can spend and spend and posture and posture but the bottom line with all of them is make their employees make the sacrifices for everyone.
The County legislators have lied and decieved us long enough. They have been waiting thirty days to fill positions.. Wow... They have been doing that for thirty or more years... They are not mandated to have a road patrol.. Cut it r fund it and support it.. Not this threat or any half way crap... Let the jail staff do the prisoner transporting to court and other places as they are trained I believe.. Prisons do it.... My personal feeling are if towns or villages want extra policing they should hire their own and have the exoense in their budget as Norwood does. Is the planning board or the office of planning necessary. I know its nice to have but is it necessary... Why isnt their more workers at Doss working until possibly seven pm keeping that office open longer for the public and cutting any overtime? Why dosnt it open Saturday??.. Why dont the weigh stations stay open longer on some nights and SAturday for the public and shut down possibly two days a week or three days accordingly?? I,ve read about abuse of usage of Vehicles. Has this been corrected? After readingST Hillares remarks this week it appears vehicles are still being used as personal cars> Why has this not been fixed?

Speaking aabout the County, I would think its about time SLC elects a new District Attorney. A change is prosecution prioritites is in line. Every one now gets drug court and probation.. We built a new jail and spent in excess of thirty million to hold our criminals... Now we keep others criminals and make money for the county which is spent in wages and benifits for COs.. wHEN WILL OUR CRIMINALS GO TO JAIL AND BE PROSECUTED.
