Three more scumbags off the street. Now it is up to the DA's office to prosecute these individuals and our Judge to set an example for all others. With an election coming up next year, the DA's office will have to prosecute some cases.

Now the Republican blogmaster is trying to get all eyes on our DAs as she is Democrat..
Considering what she is putting up with in the legislature I think she has done a reasonably good job for two terms.
One thing I fail to agree with is these late cases being dismissed for various reasons.
I dont believe Mary Rain would do any better in the job than Duve has and certainly wouldface a possibly hostile legislature.
I know Mary Rain and know shes a very dedicated person and would do a very good job if she could keep the board of legislature from interfereing as they did when she was in the conflict defender position..
I know the Sheriffs deputies will be working to stonewall Duve because of the politics envolved..
Politics aside right now I favor Rain...

They have passed gun laws in the past and no one acted insanely like now.. There are provisions in this new law that have to be ammended for sure but the parts about assault weapons has to stand...
Speaking of clip size.. Where were all you gun nuts when they put the limit at three for duck hunting...Why cant I carry my guns into court?? Why cant I take my guns to bars??? Laws you allowed to pass maybe?? /why all the fuss now????

I see where some idiot in around Watertown shot a dog for chasing deer a felony then the owner turned him in.. the shooter was arrested and charged with felony and the owner was tijcket for letting his dog run..

I,m a little confused about the gun bill and its opponents stances.
Our Senator Ritchie does not support the gun bill as she says it infrindges on our second ammendment rights.. I read the second ammendment and can see nothing that leads me to believe it takes away any of my rights as a citizen. I do agree however that its not fault of the gun in itself but rather its the fault of the state in not keeping up with the treatment of mentally disturbed people.. Then it gets confusing.. If she thinks this way, why oh why does she vote for the governors budget cutting the facilities and screwing the employees out of pensions and raises. She votes to close some of these facilities and cut services some of them supply putting its patients on the streets of our cities.. Now these mentally ill people cant be monitored properly thus events like what happen daily with guns happen... Why does she vote the way she does and yet blames mentally ill people for our gun deaths...
I ask the question "Why pentalize the individual that owns the guns Legally, when criminal have decreased sentencing for violent felonies?"
I agree there should be comprehensive background checks for individuals applying for a pistol permit.
The current laws only penalize individuals who legally own guns. Most crimes committed with guns are not with legally owned guns. Criminals will still get and use guns to commit crimes, where is the deterrent.
There should be laws that target the criminals or people that poses guns illegally. Mandatory sentence for illegal possession of a firearm, this would target the criminals who commit the majority of gun related crimes. These crimes never make the news! That is because they cannot be used for a political platform.
Target the criminal! NOT the legal gun holders.
Too bad one of the victums of the upstate standoff was not carrying. Could of prevented further death.
The only victim of the upstate standoff was a dog.. Are you that radical you want to arm dogs.. The shooters death could have been prevented if the State Police kept their word. You dont promise a waitout then send in a vicious dog...
I agree with the 651 blogger. I wish we had stronger laws concerning illegal guns or guns even present during teh commissioon of a crime. Even a fist fight if theirs a gun present.

The deterrant is in the laws I agree. But the new bill does not prevent you from owning a gun, shotgun rifle or handgun it rather makes you responsible to register assault weapons,and a little harder to get legally..
As far as the next idiot 653 is one of them was carrying a handgun or fifle and shot the alledged shooter all hell would have broken out for him in the legal system and you know it.. Now people like him want to arm dogs... Duhhhhhhhhhhhh

Lets be a little calmer please.. Lets use the word alledged. I understand you are trying already to get Mary Rain elected and want as much bad press for Duve you can stir up but lets presume innocent until proven otherwise.
One thing you want to really remember theres a lot of police up here in Northern NY that are not above setting up people. Look at the Oxley case for instance.. Cops lied all through the trial and finally when the lies came out he was aquicted.. Lets use some patients and common sense in approaching decisions on people..

do we really have to put bad press out for Duve. She let serious crimes go untimely, she has plead every thing out and she tried Oxley 3 times. The cops lied the first time, so two more trial will change that.
Duve needs to go and we need a little more sentensing and a little less judicial diversion.
The five decent people left in Ogdensburg should move out of the city - that way we can wall it up and turn it into New York's newest prison.
1025.. Your right about Oxley.. The first two times the police lies went into record but the third trial they were exposed.. I feel like the Simpson trial once they lie their credibility is shot.. How do you convict with a liar cop giving the testimony..
Plea bargain is the way of the day. If every thing went to trial as is we couldnt afford the price tag could we?
I think Duve has done a decent job considering she works for us, but her pursestrings are controlled by fifteen idiots and that the problem.
Like I said the other day right now I am going to vote for Rain but that could change in a heartbeat.

The County legislators have no say in how the DA prosecutes a case, or how many times she does. All that was her.
The Dem's have controllled the Legislature since Duve has been DA. I don't think they are trying to hurt her job or reelection. Quit screaming politics

I'm not a big Duve fan, but before one vote's for Rains do a little research, as a good voter should.
There is no reason to support Duve unless youare voting Party.
Like I said take a good look before you vote for either one. There may be a lesser of two evils there.
