Journal:Sales tax discussion heats up
I can understand Senator Ritchie's stance on increasing taxes. We do not want any more tax increases, but the bottom line will be 1% on all or 18% on the property owners. This is not a question of getting or not getting a tax increase, it is a question which tax increase we are going to get and who will pay for it.
I always believed in a flat tax or a sales tax with each individual paying a share of the cost. This is a tough spot for Senator Ritchie who has always been supported by the conservative party.
The end results will be which tax and who will pay it. Senator Ritchie should look into legislation that would raise the limit on how much local legislators can raise local sales tax. Each County and Municipality have different financial needs and saying one tax fits all may not be the right approach.

Sen. Ritchie will not "look into anything". She is way over her head, and is incapable of doing anything not ordered by her Tea Party buddies in Washington. Boy, did the voters of SLC ever screw up electing her and not Aubertine. We voted for her because she was a "local girl" who would look out for us, and got a incompetent political opportunist instead.
Thats exactly what she is.. Opportunist... If the GOP canidate Doheny fails to buy the Congressional election in November guess who will be the next shining star on the GOP agenda for the job.. Thats why Graham Wise wont let her speak and take a real positiion on anything of substance.. All she can do is cloud issues with words...wHATS THIS ABOUT a referendum.. If we the voters of SLC want the sales tax she might, thats right MIGHT, do what we ask.... What the hell kind of represenation is that...
I for one really believe in a sales tax over the property tax but with the following conditions only.
A. Cut all non-mandated services no exceptions..
B. Call Senator Ritchie or your area Senator and demand action on their part on getting monies owed us by the State on medicare re-imbursment and the casinos money owed..
C. This legislature must go on record not to get the sales tax and then raise the property tax also..
None of the above will be considered so all you good little GoP followers kiss Pattys butt and pay your taxes... Quit crying and get to the meetings in Canton and call Ritchies offices in this County and demand to talk to her.. Not her aides but her personally. Shes not working now until Albany is back in session...
Who is Graham Wise? Isn't Jim Reagan calling the shots anymore?
Graham Wise is her chief of staff. He calls the shots for her and her staff including Reagan. Reagan is being fazed down somewhat when it was exposed he may have a criminal record.
She originally hired him to print her public relations items but since him, Wise was hired and he has hired at least three more people to write nice things about our Senator..
She has nothing to do with these people around. They write and tell you all these nice things about her while Wise tells her what to do.. The true meaning of figurehead is MsRitchie.
Another bitter soul, or is it the same one from another posting. Is this person someone who has been fired off both Ritchie's and Doheny's staff? There is such a person.
NO.. You are refering to Nick. Nick was let go from Dohenys staff because he objected to the way Doheny acted when out.. He thought anyone running for Congress should be a slight more gentlemenly.. I dont think he ever was on Ritchies staff.. He did serve Nelson well in the council. Where as he and Powers were Nelsons sure votes.. Once Powers and Vaugh decided the people didnt want them again Mike mOrley took over the liplock on Nelson. No Mike I,m not Nick...
This whole county revenue problem is a huge mess that did not have to happen. Why isn't Patty Ritchey being named by anyone as the person who could have prevented it? Now the county legislature is going to tiptoe around her to hire a lobbyist to try to get special legislation? What the heck? Why don't the Republicans step up, and make Patty do her job?
11:05: MORLEY!!!! Where have you been? BTW: We are still waiting for that report to the public on how much it cost to fire Sciorra so Nelson could be reelected. Last we knew it was about $200,000. Is that correct?

7:46: No mike, What cost the city is YOU demanded Sciorra be fired FOR CAUSE. The attorneys the city hired told you he could be fired WITHOUT CAUSE, but YOU refused to listen, and felt with your superior education and vast legal background you knew better than them.
The fact that some of the city council, along with the Mayor went along with you explains why the housing situation still has not been solved.
Furthermore, Nick and Dan, two of the few EDUCATED members of the council, did not go along with you, but were outmaneuvered when you and the Mayor brought Ashley ("Your Man") on to the council early to fire Sciorra before the entire new council got to vote.
The bottom line is: The Ogdensburg City council lost a bright and educated member (Nick), and replaced him with with one of your toadies (Wayne). Also lost was a competent and experienced city manager, and $200,000 in taxpayers funds.
What I can't figure out is why a good guy like John Pinkerton would want to have anything to do with you.

Isn't strange that Deputy Mayor Morley screams like crazy if anyone goes after him in a blog, but had no trouble needlessly destroying a man's career when it was politically expedient for him?
Yeah, well Mike can lie all HE wants to, but when someone tells the truth , and says to him, "I lied to you Mike,"; Mike goes out of his way to ruin his career, and get him fired.
Who is the honest man in that senario? Especially considering all of the lies Mike told the taxpayers on how this whole process wouldn't cost us any money.
Hold yourself to the standard you placed on Art Sciorra, and tell the truth Mike. When are you going to admit that you lied Mike, and tell us how much money you wasted trying to be a big man.? How Much?
Why is person talking to himself in the last 3 blogs. Anybody can blog and this person thinks its Mr.Morley. Mike better hope this guy keeps taking his medications on schedule. I look at these blogs weekly and 60 to 80 % of the blogs are written by the same person! This person is negative and wants to defame only! To Bad Ogdensburg needs to be built up not torn down.
