Journal:Ogdensburg councilor proposes new vehicle policy

This is a great idea!  Each employee that has a car will have declare it on their income tax as income earned. This is an unnecessary expense on the tax payers and should be discontinued.

Ashley is right.. No cars no extra expenses for perts.. The county should take notice..
Several hwy vehicles going home// Several Sheriff vehicles going hom..Why??
This problem was addressed two years ago so the County Administrator said.. Yup... One deputy in Edwards get a car to and from work but the deputy in Ogdensburg dosnt.. That solved everything heh....
Anyone using a county vehicle should be buying the gas for it to take it home period. A log should be kept to keep its use at a minimum.. If the person is called out on a so called emergency then the county pays the gas but the use of these cars should be much more visible to the public.. Edwards is about thirty miles from CAnton. Sounds like about ten dollars a day that other employees dont get and the public cant afford...
Lets get our legislators on the stick also.. Thanks Mr. Ashley Now its time for Burns, LIghtfoot and Akins to step it up...

Its much worse than you state with the county..
Something in this range.
Eight Sheriffs vehicles
five hwy vehicles
four public health vehicles
public safety vehicle
two DOSS vehicles
This count could be off but not more than two.... How many are necessary .. Zero..
Its been talked about and the dept heads are given the last say so far. they totally show their disrespect for the public..
I agree with a voucher and a log in thos vehicles going home but none is better.

One should lead by example. Mr Pinkerton has set a very good example. Mr Ashleys resolution while our best interest is at stake, is probably out of line..
Mr Pinkerton was hired to run the city. Making resolutions like this immediately tie his hands.. He was hired to do a job, so let him decide who takes vehicles home and whatis and emergency and how best to respond to it..
I commend Wayne for his tought but leave it up to the manager..
The county manager should have the same leeway.. Obviously the examples given about county vehicles has been hashed over before. The manager must think the deputy from Edwards deserves a car the one from Ogdensburg not.. Sounds a little like discrimination to me but thats their problem. I understand the Sheriff or Undersheriff having vehicles, but I am not so understanding about Detectives.. I do believe they should be on a voucher and log their usage and believe they should shoulder the gas expense except when they are called out to an emergency.. The same goes for the highway dept and I,m hearing the Dept of social services does not take vehicles home anymore as is the case in almost every other department.
As I look at it the Sheriff and his employees do not work for the County legislature but for us and the Sheriff is directly accountable to us his electorate.. The sad part is the legislature holds the purse with the money in it...

The republican blogmaster has really lost his touch along with his/her followers. Is it because he/she is so boring or is it the fact he is so intralled with these second rate republican canidates.

Still no comment on the demise of Matt Doheny.. Polls now have him losing by as much as 18 percent.. For a man throwing his money around like he is I gues it boils down to one simple thing... PEOPLE DONT LIKE OR TRUST HIM.. He has no integrity and that has made a major difference.

This blog has totally fallen apart. A shame, too.

Yup your right its the blame game PARTY .. never stick to a problem - its GWB"s fault !!!!!! No answers just blame someone and that corrects the issues!!!

Does anyone believe that the price of gas is going up for any other reason than the oil corporations trying to defeat Obama... Once the GOP takes over they will really ram and jam us...

Interesting piece in thejournal this AM as I find out Gary Jarvis and Patrick Green are running for town of lisbon board on write ins.
By all appearances Jarvis is not willing to debate Green on local issues which suprises me but going back a couple of years Pat Ritchy refused to debate our Senator at that time and still won..
Green is very out spoken and soom fear his aggressive way is not good for Lisbon.. He is being managed by former SLC treasurer Bob McNeil who is running Greens campaign and keeping it low keyed for the moment. Jarvis is the former SLC undersheriff of Keith Knowlton serving in that capasity for years before being elected Sheriff in 2000. I,ve been told that party bosses didnt want to lose the Sheriffs position so they incouraged Mr Jarvis to retire in order to get some new ideas in the position..

HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED THAT WAYNE ASHLEY RIDES EVERYONE ELESES SHIRT TALES. COME ON OGDENSBURG, HE IS A TROUBLE MAKER AND ONLY STANDS ON OTHER PEOPLES SOAP BOXES. FUNNY REALLY, HE SOUNDS A LOT LIKE MORLEY.

Not one word about Pinkerton on this blog. Not one word about the dust-up between the OBPA and the city over airport security. Not one word about the Neighborhood Stabilization Program STILL being broken. This isn't an Ogdensburg blog anymore, it is a Republican spin machine.

This has been a Republican spin for a year or more now. Nancy Martin has been replaced as GOP head up here in NNY. Doheny is losing by almost twenty percent throughout the state. Ritchie will be re-elected but not by the vast majority promised by her staff head.. Come on
Nelson is still sore at the rest of the council for hiring Mr. Pinkerton. Reason being Pinkerton cant be bullied like Sciorra. Unlike Sciorra Pinkerton is connected and admired locally. Seeing this group that is serving as council seems to be able to get by the bull---- of Nelson and make their own decisions (ecxcept for Cilley). This new planner is lacking something.. I hope its just expereince but she loves to talk and talk and talk at meetings even when not summoned up... Cosmo can go back to pulling the wool over eveyones eyes until retirement..

Back to cars...Yepper, it's going to save a ton of money paying everyone 60 cents a mile instead of driving those old junky police cars. Maybe someone should ask Phil for a cost analysis on it....OR...You can follow the lead of Wayne, the financial genius.

At times I think these guys couldn't find their asses using both hands.

That's funny when Waye Ashley was the city's dog control officer he would use a police car to go out on his calls, often times transporting animals outside the city limits. As I see it two unrelated jobs. What is it Wayne new day so we have new rules.
