Journal:Police unions, Ogdensburg officials tackle contract negotiations

Contract Negotiations for City Employees and
First Challenge for City Council
Negotiating the upcoming contracts with the PBA and CSEA should be the first test for our new City Council. With a former member of the OPB on the board it should be interesting. Acting City Manager Philip A. Cosmo is negotiating this contract which is tough for someone who is only acting. Mr. Cosmo as the negotiator for the City, and an employee of the City, one could consider this a conflict of interest.

The City Council should bring in an outside negotiator.

Poly I agree with your thought however it certainly should be Wayne Ashley and fred Bean... Isnt this the way our school board operates..
Cant freeze their wages thats unfair but no more Bennies.. They should operate on the merit system.. A quota for instance.... Some many tickets so many misd. arrests and so many felony arrests... That way we wouldnt have to pay anyone...

All joking aside we need David Forsythe to negotiate for the city.. His blundering on the County Level has cost the taxpayers dearly for years to come..
He was the negotiator who agreed to a pact with the union, shook hands, went across the street and voted with the legislative body no not to give them a contract.. Ultimently this ended up in court and PERP found for the union.. Raises of 2.5.. Longevity bonus of 2500 in some cases built into the salary, hazardous pay which is another longevity increase of over forty dollars week... Wow I would want him if I were the cops..
Then he had the balls to say he was our best choice for assembly.. No wonder Addie moped the floor with him...
All and All most of the Sheriffs corrections union memb3ers ended up with about 10% increases...
Hes no longer representing us in CAnton..

If you think Wayne Ashley and Fred Bean can negotiate a union contract you are completely wrong. Ashley and Bean are the reason you are paying such high city taxes and high school taxes.

But if that is what you want go for it. Sooner or later the city will run out of money, taxpayers will wake up and then you will have to lay off employees. Good luck Ogdensburg.

1255.. You misunderstand what I meant
I am refering to the school board.. How man teachers on it.. How man teachers husbands on it.. How many school employees husbands etc on it.. Of course Bean and Ashley cant negotiate a contract nor would they want to....... You must be Mike Powers only he could misunderstand issues like this

Fred bean negotiated the last contract and I think the OPD does not have to pay for health insurance when they retire.
Someone at city hall got the wool pulled over their eyes. We need someone sharp that is not part of the process.

We could always ask the financial genius from ABay who is running for Congress.. His veiws on employees is well known and his ideals would save us some money but lock up your wives guys if he comes to town.. He just likes having a good time while his finance is at home......

Let's see...We HAD a city manager who successfully negotiated contracts, and came in with balanced budgets..No wait...We can't use him because we fired him...Even though we are still paying him.

So, the first string sitting home being paid while the second string is screwing things up.

The mayor is out of town.. So, who is in charge?

MORLEY!!!
