| County Budget Meeting |
Everyone had a voice Monday at the County Courthouse. I have to believe the majority that showed up were personally being effected by the cuts. With a 14 Million dollar deficit many county employees could lose their jobs. The sheriff's department was represented, claiming public safety would be at risk if the road patrol was closed. These are tough decisions and we elected our legislators to make them.

Preserving the current services would result in a 9.5% increase in the property tax. How much more can the property owners take and maybe it is time to look at the sales tax again.

We can thank the NYS Senate for this delimina.. The two percent freeze on the state level has dumped the resonsibility on the County. Ths is where we need cool logical heads at work.. We have none.
The mood of the crowd was no taxes. Those that spoke about raising taxes and saving services were employees of the County and their familiys and friends.
In fairness to our legislators laws recently passed by the Republican run Senate and our represenative Ms Ritchie have caused this.. Also her inability to support our request for a sales tax raise have hurt badly. Regardless of how Mr Regan explains this too us for her she has let her entire constituanty down badly with her voting for these type of issues.. She even failed to help us at the state level by refusing o vote for the millionaires tax.. Same ole same ole the ich get richer and th poor get poorer... These same rich peopl attended her fundraiser recently... Coincidence hah
Cut the budget and be done with it ! The payroll will need to be cut -- big deal its happening everywhere , so get used to it .
Taxes are not answer controlling the runaway train of spending is , forget the non govt agencies

Let any interested parties contribute $$$$$to that effort NOT the taxpaying public in general . Priorities must be established the days of wine and roses are long over .
Public safety would not be compromised if the road patrol was cut.. Unless we are getting double talk the Sheriffs over the years claim they dont have enough help now.. Why? They do transporting of inmates to ad from Court.. That has to be done. Some of these officers will be spared but not all.. The jail staff could be transporting as they do in other Counties.
We do not need them plain and sikmple... They are a luxuaray that we have grown used to.. More action by the road patrol in the manner of traffic tickets and less investigating for three or four investgators who seldom leave the office... This division needs to be cut... All felonies to be handled by SPS... I can support the Sheriff Road patrol as fexactly that not another police agency that keeps trying to grow and grwo and be involved in all phases of criminal work... If the towns and villages want additional lawenforcment let them buy their own.....

We voted these fifteen clowns into office to make imporytant deciaision for us.. They as a group have failed starting with Forsthe from the last legislature. Each department head should be charged with cutting a certain percentage from his or her equipment requests.. At least three positions from each department should be cut.. Someone said it all the other night at cutting maagement salaries from the top down..
If each department head would operate his or her department as Mr. Regan does and cut the un-needed positions from their budget we would also save big time. For instance Sheriffs Dept..
Its not the officers to be cut but the management poitions and supervisory positions.
I understand on dayshift there is at least two Road Sgts to supervise probably tHree Road deputies. Three detective gts working days. Chief civil, Warden, Two jail SGts Juvenil Sgt Asst Warden Sheriff and Undersheriff.. All to supervise about about ten people...WHATS GOING ON......
Take an example from SUNY they CUT the President AT CANTON ( WHO COULD RETIRE ANYWAY ) not the worker bees.

A further joke and how we arebeing ignored by the legislators. Job of Warden is no called jail administrator. The state mandated an assistant to the administrator when the new jail was built.. It was done with the intent that when the Administrator wasnt available the assistant would be.... They work the same hours basically.. Why??? If we need both of them one should be working a different scope of hours?????? One of them has a car to use at his disposal.. WHY// IF one isnt there the other is supposed to be???? How many times during the course of a year does either get called in???? If so arnt they paid in some manner??

anon 7:15 must like to pay more taxes. Claims Ritchie is the blame for the county's short fall. No new taxes, that what we want. I like how she point to the Rep controlled Senate passed bills that directly effect the county. He/she must not realize the assembly had to pass it also.
Time to cut some services and make people accountable.
11_46 are you nuts. Forsyhe was the only one who wanted everything cut. He had the guts to bring up tuff choices but could not get the others to go along. Lets see where we are at now; This group republicans and dems are chicken sh--ts. I would support him for mayor in a minute. I don't think he lives in the city but too bad.

You could cut evry county employee and the tax rate would still go up. We need wefare reform, get people off the system that shouldn't be there. That is where your tax dollars go.
