Sorry about your family...I hope everything got back on track...While you were gone, not much happened...Nelson was out of town, and D.M. Morley is going to spend another $15,000+ on the city manager fiasco they created...Now they have spent over $250,000 of the fund balance Sciorra created for the taxpayers of the city..

I guess Nelson is out of town a lot this year.. Posing for the mayors conference... His job demotion at Claxton is likely because of his failure at work alo g with failure at local politics..
Certainly hope your family problems get solved for the good soon. Your blog has created an alternative to the Ogdensburg journal and their one sided approach to writeing and reporting..
Mayor Grahams blog has become boring and censored as of late. His head is up this Matt Dohenys behind so far he cant see the light of day. Any real remarks about Doheny and his veiws about politics are completely one sided and any rebuttals are not printed of course...

Unfortunately the tab for firing Art is high for a few reasons - Council didn't act before the new Council was sworn in, in large part due to Andy Silver's delay tactics to protect the gravy train Uncle Art put him on. 2nd, even though they had cause and the votes to terminate him, Jen Stevenson pushed for him to get paid b/c she was afraid of any political blowback from a lawsuit - this is just the beinning of her cowardly failing to take a position on anything of substance or controversial - she is useless.

Firing Art wouldn't have cost anywhere near what they ended up paying hin (and the cost of living adjustments that he forfiete when he took them away from staff was even worse), but more than likely would have resulted in a settlement of 50%. Bottom line, Art was a weasel that needed to go, but 2 Councils both failed to act collectively in the best interest of the community.

Sorry to hear about your family hope all is well now . As some have said Grahams' blog is now CENSORED to the point that any criticism of the Elected here in the Burg seems to be filtered out .

As far as NYCOM is concerned it is an office that few apparently WANT , much like officerships in several service or trade organizations go lacking today . Thus Nelson's role is not that impressive simply he's there and not many cared to run.

this is 4:49 I retract my statement about Mr Graham not printing criticism of "Electeds" here in Ogdensburg. He DID print it last nite

4:17...Check your memory...The old council fired Sciorra before Christmas when they added ONLY Ashley or "The man I want" (DM Morley) ahead of time...The council had to pay him because they did not have CAUSE. The settlement was not recommended by Silver, but the "hotshot" attorneys the council brought in from Syracuse...The only guy saying he would be fired for cause was Morley...And how did that work out for us taxpayers?
The two "coward" councilors you referred to would not go along because they knew the whole thing was politically motivated, and the taxpayers, as well as Sciorra would end up getting screwed....AND They were right...BTW: Since when does standing up for what is right make one a coward?

Just read where watertown hss selected their new Manager and Krol is now negotiating a contract with that canidate.
This is not a complaint but rather a fact... Fact Fact Fact...
Watertown knew about the same time as Ogdensburg that a new manager will be needed...
Watertown started the process without all the BS and theatrics of Bill Nelson and Mike MOrley..
Watertown was out of the gate in the lead from the get go.. Why??
Watertown hired a ex city manager of Ogdensburgs at a lower price than Ogdensburg months before Ogdenwsburg hired anyone...
Watertown didnt pay two hundred plus thousand to create a vacancy in the manager position...
Why?????
Because they dont have Bill Nelson and Mike Morley...
Nelson is too busy attending NYSCOM meetings and getting his picture in the paper and Morley too busy giving comments to the local papers to keep Cosmo busy..
Cosmo... What a joke... He should have been fired along with Sciorra and Woods but the locals favor his lazy ways obviously...

There is no doubt that locally we have been DIMINISHED by the inept performance of both the Mayor and Council on this issue .

The costs of this episode both financially and in terms of lost initiatives (grants) and the obvious downgrading of the city's image in both the professional and governmental communities has been the result .

Ogdensburg is now "The Little City That Can't"

The very fact that Watertown is on the cusp of an appointment while our ELECTEDS are DRAGGING their feet and still running the tab at THIS late date is tantamount to ineffective leadership or worse ?

The previous mgr was terminated in Dec.There obviously should have been some "PLAN B" initiatives formulated during that process .

Yet here we are 6 months later and these ELECTEDS are JUST GETTING started after running the tab well into six figures for the entire fiasco -- SHAMEFUL and a monument to the out of touch who voted to put these people in office.

Where is the LEADERSHIP ?????

Where did the $250,000+ come from to fire Sciorra (and thus give Nelson "an issue" to get re-elected by 11 votes)?

The upcoming city budet should be interesting. Either Sciorra and the council had a lot of money hidden somewhere OR there is going to be some "belt tightening" or a tax increase.

I wonder if the prize winning reporters at The Journal will be able to figure it out OR they will just blindly quote D.M. Morley as usual?

Wasn't the budget passed 5 1/2 months ago?

Come on Mike, the UPCOMING budget is in the future, so it was NOT passed 5 1/2 months ago.

It's amazing that anyone with a college degree (intellegence?) in the city of Ogdensburg; I.E. Silver, Sciorra, Vaugh, Scamperli is seen as ignorant and cowardly. While guys like Morley, Nelson, and Ashley, who have room temperature I.Q.s, are seen, by some anyway, on this blog as Whiz Kids.

No wonder the city is so screwed up.

Personally, I think anyone who can't figure out when to use 'are' and when to use 'is' is probably too ignorant to be taken seriously.

I do agree about Morley, Nelson and Ashley though. If it weren't for Stevenson, Skamp and Hosmer, there wouldn't be anyone of intelligence in elected office here. There are a few in city hall who are good, too, like the city planner and the fella they have doing the assessments now, but Cosmo is at least as dishonest and incompetent as Sciorra was.

Ogdensburg has a problem with the 'brain-drain' - anyone of any intellect and talent gets out of here, leaving criminals, psychotics and inbred morons behind.

I've heard that Robins at the journal has moved to Canton with his wife, and that Liz Graham is going back to Watertown to become an editor down there. Sounds like the Journal is going to close down soon. After that, what will be left to make Ogdensburg a city? The post office? The prisons? The toxic waste?
