OFA School Project Passes With Over 80 Percent Approval

The voters spoke and we will receive 57 million dollars to complete major renovations in the Ogdensburg City School District. This will include upgrades and maintenance work for Madill and Kennedy, plus an addition on Kennedy that will add 17 classrooms. The addition on Kennedy will enable the school district to close Lincoln and Sherman Schools.  This project should save the taxpayers' money by consolidating services, utility bills, maintenance, and maybe absorbing those administrators at Sherman and Lincoln.  There is only one administrator at this time.

I like the idea of putting the property back on the tax roll.  Much of Ogdensburg is currently tax exempt which places a large burden on current landowners.  I would tear down both buildings and build new housing.  With current code restrictions it is difficult to build a new home in Ogdensburg City Limits.

Let us give a hand to the voters that approved this project.

It was great that the community supported this grant. It may be a long time before NYS has the funds for such a project. The schools have been in disrepair, Madill flooded during the last down pour.
The athletic field was a strech, but it was only about 400 K of the entire 57 million.

We all got stuck with this one even though unemployment is 15% counting those who dropped out of the system after failing to find gainful employment and those on fixed incomes haven't had a ss increase for 2 yrs -- thanks guys what a deal!!

I realize just how important all that stuff is after all its only 57 million of OUR money ( State Aid is our tax dollars ) and what the hell the enrollment is only down 35-40% from the late 80's BUT It's ALL for the Kids -- Yeah RIIIGHT

Aubertine just dropped 100 million over the district in the last month to ensure his win. You think the state is out of money. Just goes to show most can be bought.

time for a Proposition 13 movement in NYS In Indiana for example proerty Taxes are LIMITED to 1 % of assessed value .

That's right limited to 1 % so a $50,000 home pays $500 taxes Total for the year INCLUDING School taxes , city and county tax . - Google it !!

TIME FOR A CAP - this had GONE FAR ENOUGH
