OFA School Project Passes With Over 80 Percent Approval

The voters spoke and we will receive 57 million dollars to complete major renovations in the Ogdensburg City School District. This will include upgrades and maintenance work for Madill and Kennedy, plus an addition on Kennedy that will add 17 classrooms. The addition on Kennedy will enable the school district to close Lincoln and Sherman Schools.  This project should save the taxpayers' money by consolidating services, utility bills, maintenance, and maybe absorbing those administrators at Sherman and Lincoln.  There is only one administrator at this time.

I like the idea of putting the property back on the tax roll.  Much of Ogdensburg is currently tax exempt which places a large burden on current landowners.  I would tear down both buildings and build new housing.  With current code restrictions it is difficult to build a new home in Ogdensburg City Limits.

Let us give a hand to the voters that approved this project.

WDT:Ritchie Still Holds Slim Lead in Poll

It appears to be a race to election day for Aubertine and Ritchie.  Ritchie edged out Aubertine by 3 percentage points in the latest Siena Research Poll. It appears nothing has changed over the last few months.  I would of thought Mr. Aubertine would have gained ground with the millions of dollars he dropped in the district.  Then again, voters are sick and tired of pork barrel spending which equate to tax increases, the current budget does not balance, they are laying off state workers, and they are predicting a $10 billion deficit next year.

The polls have not been true when predicting Mr. Paladino's sucess.  I believe they have underestimated his progress and underestitmated how fed up voters are with our current legislators.  It is hard to believe 8% of the voters are still undecided.  I believe that the undecided 8% are Paladino followers, who will fall in with Mrs. Ritchie on election day.  I am expecting Ritchie to win by at least 7 % when all votes are tallied.

Burns on the Move

Vernon "Sam" Burns is on the move and his campaign is moving forward.  He has been sending emails to everyone with a link to his new U-Tube video.  I was impressed with the radio adds, the mailers, and his signs have landed in many yards.  Mr. Burns understands politics and he runs a very good campaign.

His flier outlined many accomplishments since his election in 2006.
      * County Jail was built on time and under budget
      * Testified on International Joint Commission about water
          levels in the St. Lawrence.
      * Lowered property taxes

Mr. Flavin is well known in the community and had a good showing in his last attempt for City Council.  He is an avid sportsman, worked at Claxton Medical Center in the Maintenance Department, and has been a strong proponent to the Walleye Restocking program.  He has been lax on his campaigning duties but he did attend the GOP rally and he has a few signs around the area.

ONE OF US OR NOT

Where is Darrel Aubertine's loyalties?  Does he stand with us or with his new allies the Working Families Party and their Acorn counterparts.  This is the same organizations that have been under multiple investigations. They are currently combing the district and knocking on our doors.

Ethics have gone out the window.  Mr. Aubertine was caught lying about his wind leases.  Just after voting on the Ethics Bill he hired his sister on his office staff, which contradicts the Ethics Law he just voted for.  Either he did not read the bill or thought it was OK, because he is One of Us.  Negative campaigning, I guess it will all end in November on election day. One of Us?  I THINK NOT.

WDT:Kelly Unsure What Became of Petitions

Patty with Petitions in Hand
Chuck Kelly, Retired Editor, Save the Prison Spearhead, and Chuck I Don't Remember what happened to the petitions.  I have many pictures from the rally and after checking them, only one of Chuck. I recall, this rally was about Darrel and other elected officials.  Mrs. Ritchie was there with her petitions in hand and should of had a coat because she did look cold.  Mr. Kelly said Mrs. Ritchie most likely gave him the petitions.  If you look at the picture of Mrs. Ritchie you can see the petitions in her arms. Mr. Kelly said they were brought on the bus to Albany but cannot remember who received them.

Chuck Kelly & Bill Nelson, Rally for OCF

Chuck, is taking the middle of the road and continues to throw his supported to Darrel.  Chuck said Senator Aubertine did most of the work, what about the community, the employees at OCF, what about Addie.  This was a group effort, Senator Aubertine had to go back to Albany and convince his NYC Democrats that he would lose his seat if OCF closed.  Guess what?  They saved OCF, Darrel is a hero, and he gets re-elected, maybe NOT.

Fees Fees and More Fees

Ogdensburg Fees Fees Feees when does it stop
Ogdensburg has become fee city.  Our current city legislators voted 4 to 3 on raising fees on business inspection in Ogdensburg.  I am still asking who are the Republicans on that board and who are the democrats.  Nelson, Vaughn, Powers, and Cilley all Republicans voted to increase fees on local businesses.  The Democrats with the stand on his own Republican Mr. Morley unsuccessfully tried to vote down these fees.  Who is friendly to business?

Good thing Mayor Nelson has his 4 legislators that vote my way every time.  Time to think about the community and stop spending.

The City Legislature is/or has established an ethics policy which also left everyone wondering who the real republicans are.

Journal:Oxley's Second Murder Trial To Begin Tuesday

Wayne Oxley back in Court
I was driving down New York Avenue last week and caught a glimpse of Mr. Oxley talking to someone on the corner of his previous residents.  I figured the trial was coming up soon.  The subpoenas are out and everyone is to report Tuesday for the start of the trial.

Two witnesses have changed their testimony, so it should prove to be an interesting trial.  Mrs. Duve, District Attorney and Jerome Richards, Judge have a better knowledge of their jobs and hopefully things will run by the book this time.

Have you been called to be a jurors?

WDT:Incumbent Senator Wants to Debate Challenger

Aubertine and Ritchie Debate 2010
The time has come for each candidate to meet head to head in a debate for the 48th Senatorial District.  Senator Aubertine is challenging Mrs. Ritchie to debate in all 3 counties.  This is an obviously sign that Senator Aubertine numbers continue to drop.

Senator Aubertine will have a hard time defending a record that parallels his fellow corrupt NYC Democrats.  I wonder if he will come clean on his contracts allowing transmission lines from BFW to pass through his property.  Senator Aubertine has much on the line but he must feel debate is his only and last chance of gaining ground on Mrs. Ritchie.

This will be Mrs. Ritchie's first chance to publicize her stance on many issues.  Senator Aubertine has had 8 years to improve his public speaking skills.  This should be a great debate and should bring many issues to light.

GOP Rally Leads to Aubertine Rally

Friday night was big for the GOP at the Ogdensburg Republican Headquarters.  Nancy Martin, St. Lawrence County Republican Chair assembled many supports to meet and rally the candidates.  What appeared to be a Republican Rally turned into a mission by Darrel Aubertine campaign workers to disrupt the rally.  Senator Aubertine hired individuals who appeared to be from New Jersey based on license plates to set up camp next door.  They stood directly across the street and held up signs and chanted.  Linden Street and Rt. 37 was lined with Darrel Aubertine signs.
At one point a Robert Flavin election sign was moved across the street by one of Senator Aubertine campaign people.  When the Aubertine campaign worker was confronted by Mr. Flavin he replaced the sign.  Is this what Senator's do?  Intimidation and harassment, these are accepted Senatorial Acts by our current Democratic Majority.  Espada, Parker, Mosserate, Paterson, Spitzer....where does this list end, with Aubertine?

Journal:City School Board Oks Contract Teachers To Help Pay For Insurance

Nice Raise for theTeachers for an extra 10 dollars a week
Teachers are starting to contribute to their health insurance some may say it is about time.  I say, hey look at those raises.  I would also agree to $520.00 /year = 20 dollars deduction from my pay check for a 3.95%,3.8%, and a 3.75 raise for 3 years.  This raise is at minimum three times greater than the 520/year.  I would say the teachers had a great negotiator.  According to Mr. Vernsey the district will be saving hundreds of thousands dollars.

I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH MY SCHOOL TAXES ARE GOING DOWN.

Journal:OCFInmate Count Rises By 21

21 Inmates to OCF
Inmate population is up at OCF. Does that mean crime is up, or was it Senator Aubertine's call from the Commissioner of Corrections telling him he was sending more inmates to OCF?  That call happened during a Union meeting with staff at OCF.  Boy, that was good timing!

This is an election year so everything is happening in the last 5 weeks before the election.  Hopefully for the sake of OCF, the Senate will not stay in control of the Democrats.  Their agenda has been to release felons, close prisons, close dorms, and now they are releasing violent felons back into society. Hopefully, in their neighborhood.

Signs, Signs, and More Signs

Ogdensburg has been covered with Darrel Aubertine signs.  Every corner, every store, Amvets, Twin Bridges, even on my corner, lol.  While out and about today I did catch a new placement for a Patty Plate Sign.  A Wishing well, that could be a sign.

Take a look at this cartoon of Patty and Darrel it  displays the good, the bad and the ugly of each candidates.  It is very factual.

Senator Aubertine opened his Watertown Office and guess who showed up with free hats.  Chris Leo, NYSCOPBA, Legislative Director was giving free hats to correctional officers that attended the opening.  Last time they gave away anything free to attend a political fan fair it blew up in the candidates face, sorry Will Barclay.

It appears not all correctional officers are behind Mr. Aubertine.  NYSCOPBA has not endorsed Senator Aubertine and it appears Chris Leo has been using NYSCOPBA to push a personal agenda.  It is hard to understand why NYSCOBPA is supporting a Democratic controlled Senator after closing prisons and dorms only North of the Thruway.  Now they are moving the inmate population back to New York City.  Mr. Leo must live and work for NYSCOPBA in the NYC area.
