Journal:City School Board Adopts Budget

The School board adopted our budget.  The board agreed to increase the tax levy by 2.9% and keep the SRO (school resource officer) instead of hiring another teacher.  Dr. Rufa and Mrs. Drummond did vote to get rid of the SRO so another teacher could be hired back. I stand behind them, school is about learning and the OPD is always available there if needed.

They did restore a couple of teachers at $68,000/year each.  I still do not agree with three years of raises for the teachers...this is part of the problem, giving raises while teachers are getting laid off.  NOT ABOUT THE KIDS!

That decision alone makes me believe this is the weakest school board we have ever had. We are the only school in the County having this position so one can only label it as a luxurary. I see no offers from the administration in sharing the pain. Its easier to tax the people in the city so sports havnt got to he cut and the Rescourse officer can sit around for 8 hours a day..

Weak Board , Weak administration , weak voting public that seems to go along with everything and hasn't the stomach to demand cuts in property taxes.

This board is so weak and dysfunctional it is beyond objectivity.
