Jouranl:City Woman Receives Probation For Knifing

Gates get interim probation for pleading to2nd degree assault and 4th degree criminal possession of a weapon by Judge Richards.  That is after cutting another woman in the face, arm, chest and head.  What can be said about this?

This is a broken system locally. The county board of legislators would rather house inmates from other counties. They pressure the Sheriff, Judge and certainly DAs office and probation office into being soft on local crime so they can make money on housing inmates from other counties..
We spent alot of maoney to build this new boondoggle. Its time to use it as it was intended to house criminals. Criminals in our County.
With the chance looming of OCF closing by the state the suggestion by some legislators years ago to seek and make an agreement with the state to utilize this porison as a County Jail looks good now. Cant be now
We need a tougher system and if the people in it now arnt tough enough to do the job we need to replace them.

I agree with the previous commentator. This entire system in ST Lawrence County needs to be revamped. I find it disgusting when these people get prbation time after time..
Somewhere down the course of this action this woman gave city police vital info on drug dealings in the city. The PDs inadequet to say the least so they in turn lobby the district attorney and together a deal is drawn up. Probation will not onky keep this person somewhat in line but will assure she will follow through on her part of the agreement.
I also believe the SLC legislature is to fault somewhat. Wanting of money to balance their budget so they have no tough decisions to make like cutting services.. How can dangerous ;eple like this go free with jail cells being given to other counties.

This whole scenario is an epic failure of the judicial system in this county . This judge needs to go. .
