Jornal:Wind Turbine Company Focused On City

Wind Power in Ogdensburg?
Wind power in and around Ogdensburg, could that be possible?  It sounds like they will be looking at land along the St. Lawrence River where the abandoned businesses currently reside. It also appears that they may be looking at the abandoned land at the SLPC.

BFW has been trying to push into NNY for years.  Hammond has run into road block after road block and any sign of a deal has blown in the wind.  Actually it has turned neighbor against neighbor in Hammond and the board was split.  How would our City Council handle The D'Arcinoff Group, that is looking at Ogdensburg and other sites in NYS?

They promise 12,000 - 15,000 energy related jobs. There will be many jobs generated during the construction period, but how many will remain when the construction ends. Will we see any reduction in our energy bills, or a reduction in our taxes?  Time will tell!

In Myrtle Beach this week golfing, will be posting from long distance. Tough drive down, but missed the tornados in NC.

Just a note: D. Sholette running for Mayor this year?

did you watch the council meeting on time warner tonight, Sholette was shitfaced, it was obvious to anyone who watched, his speech was slurred ad he was incoherent. He praised the the changes for the Beaver Brook project and voted against it!

I only seen the last segment of the meeting. I didnt notice Doug or his demeanor... I noticed Vaugh and Powers absent again.. This has to stop absent a good share of the time is not acceptable.
As far as the wind turbine group, our council is not up to date on anything of this. The Bridge and Port, Davis, Lamachia, Carter has done all the leg work to date. Our council has been sitting on their behinds concerning anything but Prison closures. Our of respect for us the taxpayers they need to either move aside, or keep informed about important issues like this even if it means acknowledging Democrat Senators and a Democratic Assemblywoman. I find their ignoring of these people is helping with the decay of this city.
We need people who can give a commitment to the taxpayers of the city and attend the meeting regulary, rather than miss them regulary.
Two years a go Vaugh missed four in a row.. He was challanged by a Republican councilman who asked him to resign for unexcused absence. The mayor got him out of this one. His interests are many. He has attempted to hook on with any canidate for other offices and puts his council work secondary if that.. Powers accepted reassignment due to a promotion. I commend him for his promotion but missing council meetings is by no means forfilling his obligations to us... We need new blood on this council and a new mayor to lead the way.. This is a chance of a lifetime. Perhaps we could let OCF go without loosing anything if this company chose us to locate.
Thank god the Bridge and Port authority is looking out for us as our council is asleep at the wheel.. I cant amagine our city being represented by the Bridge board while our council is on page four...

9:28, YOUR A DOPE!! The OBPa in its quest to involve it self in local politics instead of being the Authority it is supposed to be, bought the former Breckonridge building, took it off the tax rolls with an active agreement with the departing company for the next four years at $35,000 dollars a year. Thats right did you pay attention to that a month aqo... That is $175.000 for the next 4 years. So your glorious OBPA has screwed the taxpayers , How do you suppose we are going to make that up??!! Smart move OBPA!! How does that help us?? You must have been Drunk yourself watching if you couldn't see that he was DRUNK!!

Vaugh is a clown I'll give you that, but to attack Powers is wrong, I will testify to his character and selfless service to us a union man and a councilman...
He took a promotion and left us at Riverview in early 08 right after he was sworn in as a councilman, said to me that he only missed two meeting early on in his tenure and hadn't missed another in the previous two years!! get your facts right. He worked in the Bronx for two and a half years and claims to have missed only a few meetings, and said to me just a few hours ago that his attendance records are there for all to see. So I encourage you to get the facts straight !!! I for one care about my community and recognize true leadership. I watch intently and carefully all these meetings and attend County meetings as well.

Counter anything I said in my first comment did he sit there and praise the city for working with the public on the Beaver Brook project and then vote it down, how many meetings has he missed due to his new job just in the last few months!!??

My facts are straight. I cannot give you an exact count on missed meetings but I close guess for him missing meetings in his three and a half years would be seven to ten meetings. Thats fact.
I too was very impressed with him during his first full year but over the last two he has been pulled to backing the mayor on everything regardless on public opinion.
His remarks to the police effort in this city have been sinfull. Good job to the front lines.. Drug rate way up arrests not. Murders unsolved. Council should be critical when necessary not complimentary for publicity. His handling of the situation at Beaverbrook was anti people the same as the mayors.
Your remarks on the Bridge are your opinon not shared by many. There has always been and always will be a split on opinions of what this authority should do. One thing I know is that it and only it has brought more industry to this city than the mayor or ourcouncil no matter how they have done it.
Mr. Powers followers have told me time and time again they wish he would break from the status quo at city hall and vote as they feel he wants to. He cant.. Hes so owing to Nelson and Nancy Martin.
He supports the citys endevors to compete with taxpayers and local businessmen. Why?
He has voted for every tax increase over his tenure. He voted no when asked to support the four lane highway promotion and noce defeated he changed to a yes vote the following meeting.. Why?
He voted to let Senator Ritchies office into city hall for a minimul rent fee when local business offer4ed her space. Why/ Now we have to pay to renovate her office as its not good enough at our expense..
This man talks alot and is an excellent speaker however his words are like Nelsons hollow and empty. They mean nothing.
Yes I thought this man was a possible mayoral canidate for the future now hes become a major disapointment to most of us.
He has been against Mr. rose and the Beaver Brook residents from day one. He was against Mr Wells and their neighborhood from day on in the Chadwick debacle.
He did become a major player when his transfer back home was jeapordized when OCF was in trouble but not much else hew got that envolved with.. His votes insinuate his position on the second ammendment may be weak and unsteady to say the least. Yes Vaugh is a disapointment but I have to put Powers on the same page as him.....

You still did not answer my question!! All you did was state your opinion as well!! Next time look closely before running your mouth and making your opinion or better yet check with Bellardini and the Dems.

Bruce.. What was your question. The only thing thats in question form was about Shollette.. I watched the meeting on TV. I didnt watch long enough to see him close or see him speak.. I by no means endorce Mr. Sholette for anything. I dont know him. I like his ideals at time and he seems to be on the side of the taxpayer. He at least expresses his own opinions openly. Hes not a great speaker but I dont know his character.. If this is not your question and my answer then give it to me...

Mr. Pow4rs missed a total of seven meetings in his first three years work related. I think the person commenting is pointing out the total lack of communications with city hall and the Democratic Senators and the Democratic Assemblywoman for this area. Politics has no place in our future. When people l;ike Mr. Shumar and Gillibrand have to contact people from a local authority it sends a very clear message to the taxpayers of this city.
I agree that Mr. Powers is a special speaker and when he speaks he commands attention. This unlike his counterpart Vaugh is a special instrument he must use. However he uses his skills to play politics thus hurting the taxpayers. I dont think he understands he can vote his heart once in awhile and not what Nancy Martin or Nelosn dictate. This man could make a difference in this city.
He dosnt come across like Vaugh who talks just to gain attention to someone elses causes. He has a mind of his own at times and he also makes sense unlike Vaugh.
The point of this entire conversation was caused by the first commentator and his terrible rermarks about Mr. Shollette. Mr. Shollette is not an eloquent speaker but until now has spoke his part and from the heart. If he decides to run for mayor then so be it. the people will decide not comments that are unproven. His record will be weighed and will be voted on not garbage like those comments... I also dont believe Doug McDonald wrote those comments.
Our council has to keep open communications with our represenatives in Washington and Albany other than Patricia Ritchie.even if they are of the other party. When these people come here to help us we need to be reopresented and some courtesy shown by our elected officals. Thus they could keep ub on whats going on elsewhere and not be informed by the newspaper and the Bridge Authority of a chance of a lifetime..
Also a little side note.. I hope this is only a turbine manufacturer and not a company that wants to place these toweres along our riverfront. That I would oppose...

Nelson and VAugh want to promote these monsters along the Diamond property and Sheade Roller behind Bastas. They have approached Senator Ritchie for assistance with their plan.

While everybody here seems to be arguing about the local political hacks the D'Arcinoff Group (based in Washington DC ) is attempting to rape the taxpayer at the state and federal level. The D'Arcinoff Group’s plan takes the alternative energy scam to a whole new level. Their plan involves generating electricity with wind and solar (already subsidized at $23.37 and $24.34 per mega-watt hour) and converting it to hydrogen. (In contrast subsidies per mega-watt hour for natural gas, coal, hydro, and nuclear are $0.25, $0.44, $0.67, $1.59 respectively). The hydrogen is compressed and transported from rural to urban areas to be used in combined cycle generators. Optimistically their scheme will produce about one third the energy relative to just connecting the wind and solar directly to the grid.

The country is broke. The state is broke. It is time to end these hair brain alternative energy scams before we go down the same rat hole as Spain.

Our history will read the demise started with
Railroad leaving
Ferry boat closing
Arterial Hwy built around the city
Urban renewal
Fort Drum expanding
Prisons coming here
Perv Palace coming here
Alternative energy windmills coming here
Each and every one of these things had a long term negative influence on this city
Mr. Powers burning the only part of down town that remained... didnt help either
Now we are infested with wanabe politicans that only invision a waterfront paridice the wealthy can enjoy.. Thats all while the druggies and murderers do their thing and the rest of the city decays.. Drive around citizens.. Are you happy? If you are vote for Nelson and VAugh and Powers and return them.. If your not VOTE THEM OUT....

I watched the meeting on TV tonight. Its more than obvious yoour right Shollette had been drinking.. If you watch Nelson closely and his eyes its obvious hes been sniffing again... Not much character in either these two for mayor..

The entire council room needs a serious clean out .

Hopefully citizens are tired of the 3 ring circus that has been playing here for too long !

If the future is to have any hope at all ,Its time to change the clowns and replace the sideshow with intelligent , serious, experienced and focused leaders who can set an agenda of measureable maintenence AND "stretch" goals and hold city mgt responsible for their attainment.

As far as looking at Alt Energy -- do so BUT with a great deal of skepticism . Remember the BION project -- turned out to be NOT what is was marketed to be , Every possible alternative SHOULD be explored, BUT with HARD- NOSED Business case study analysis -- NOT the 'Tweedle- Dee, Tweedle DUMB" approach that has been exemplified at council for SOOOOO many things in the past .

It was OFTEN akin to irrational , mumbling , bumbling "gee whizzers" rambling on either the OBVIOUS or simply their HIGH NEED to pose and posture for the camera .

We need new and experienced people who have actually lead complex organizations or business and or industry to step up to the plate and RUN for OFFICE or we'll end up with a continuation of the 3 ring circus
